cant have open borders with a welfare state. Mass immigration is always going to be a problem for any nation despite what fools on the left say and despite the moronic spencer/fuentes types being racist on the issue as well

lmao "despite what the moronic types say" while you repeat their basic ass talking points

So a small portion of people representing over 7,800,000,000?

And what would stop this small group of intelligent people from being overthrown by a much larger number of stupid people via brute force if necessary?

you can come up with a bunch of flaws in how the system is implemented, doesn't mean the idea isn't a valid solution to the world's crises

but to answer ur question u can always brute force the stupid people too. Jan 6 was a failed coup against a country with nukes lmao

I agree with the concept of a one World government that would function somewhat like a more powerful UN. I think it would be important to allow countries their own governments, but to remove road blocks such as immigration laws, trade laws, require all countries to meet certain human rights criteria, etc. Basically how the US federal government handles state governments.

But I think without countries holding any of their own sovereignty, I think it would get out of hand fast and would ultimately fail.

Not on the side of the world government stuff if you looked earlier at my posts in the thread but just to address this point specifically , if you look at the course of human history, the vast majority of people adapt cleanly in a hierarchical fashion to the sensibilities and values distilled from the top down. Even in revolutionary movements values and norms were distilled from a small intelligent class downward. There's nothing physically stopping anyone but the vast majority of people in a given population psychologically adapt to latent power structures and then essentially settle there.

May not be a bad ideal to strive for, but I can’t imagine it happening successfully in my lifetime

You can't just let anyone come in and stay permanently. That would effect public schools, other tax payer funded institutions, and eventually healthcare (once its tax payer funded).

Wouldn’t a potential solution be more expansive humanitarian aid, more collaborative government programs between nations with mutual benefits and, you know, not attempting to overthrow democratically elected governments and installing authoritarian dictators and the like?

Curbing climate change as well, because once that s*** really takes off immigration is gonna be off the f***ing charts.

Right and thats kind of what Bertrand was saying, you extrapolate how the US deals with states on a global federation scale. The countries in theory would have their sovereignty but not when it comes to global issues like war/climate policy/immigration

You really can though, there's plenty of rural areas in the US that are underdeveloped and could use immigrants to build up the local economy. And its about priorities, we have enough money in this country to fund every public good, but instead we spend it on aid to Israel to pay for their welfare state.

Nothing wrong with controlling who does and doesn't get into your country.

I feel like America (and maybe some European countries) are the only ones who are expected to just LET anyone in. That's the only time I see complains about illegal immigration while no other place would be held to that standard.

Most immigrants move to cities unless you are suggesting limiting where they are allowed to move? We need some limit on the number of people that come in or we will become overpopulated. If we opened borders completely we would have hundreds of millions of people coming. We have enough money right now but you are suggesting opening borders and letting anyone who wants to come in, that isn't feasible.
