@fuego i guess remove my a***ogy, if he had grown up in Memphis versus Toronto
As a huge Drake fan thats the difference tho
Donald was born and raised in Atlanta, yet he didn't change his corniness to try to fit in with black americans
Maybe as a child, but we all do that s*** as children, I was saggin for no reason in 4th grade
but this him, and the reason he is able to make a show like ATLANTA is because of his lived black experience in America
It's wild that folks still have to explain this
Discussion not obsessive listening
And which (immeasurable) metric do you use to determine that lool
trump planning to deport million of minorities and dot still worried about drake
this nigga really was just pretending the whole time lol
he had his superbowl show, if this another feature or part about drake than i assume round 2 is coming.
You don’t think Kendrick has been guilty of offering a sanitized image of black radicalism to the mainstream
even if he is I don't think Drake has it in him to make a good diss track about it so it's kind of irrelevant
@fuego i guess remove my a***ogy, if he had grown up in Memphis versus Toronto
nah thats fair, so what you're saying is drake is a black canadian not a black american and that means he grew up with potentially different cultural values and experiences than a black american would but maybe now he expresses himself more as a black american which is weird for you guys given his upbringing
am i understanding correctly?
I make music that electrify 'em, you make music that pacify 'em
I can double down on that line, but spare you this time, that's random acts of kindness
and dont pull the "oh you would only read into it that way if you believed he was a pedo" bullshit, these bars were literally spread on social media as "kendrick is going to call drake a pedo" and the genius caption also denotes this as a pedo diss
I’ll give you that one. It’s a double entendre. Very subtle one, but yes that definitely is a point, just like the Whitney bar on Push Ups.
The thing is though, even with that being in there, it wasn’t a true escalation in the beef like Family Matters was. Family Matters was when s*** hit the fan, and for a good 30 minutes, people thought Drake might’ve f***ed around and won it. But ofc Kendrick matched his intensity and went scorched earth on him and the rest is history.
Kendrick was really 2 steps ahead the whole time and going at the same level Drake was the whole time. Not escalating things until his opponent had done so firstly. Drake realized too late that he had been outmaneuvered, and that’s why we got the horrible response with The Heart Part 6.

okay i 100% agree with everything you said here honestly. And agreed thp6 was a rough response, good track on its own imo it has some strong points, rough attempt to defend himself tho and relatively forgotten in the beef
to be fair, their original comment was literally "his mom is white" which implied more of a "hes not black" tone than the updated post does
As a huge Drake fan there are multiple factors in the black American experience
A lightskin person raised by a white single mom will be much different than one raised by a black parent
For example when I was born, the entire white side of my family abandoned my mom for having black children so my black family raised me
I didnt visit them and leave, thats who I grew up with and it shaped me
I dont relate to a lot of lightskin people who were raised with their white familes because of that

Yall are cowards for using real life tragedies to get at Kendrick

Drake is a black Canadian but he is raised in a white household
i think it would have been the same had his mom been white in America because she would have raised him according to her values and not the experience of what it is to be a black boy. Thats probably why someone like Ish is so offended

for real, appreciate both you and @Valentine explaining it to me and being understanding
meek was a killer rapper before the drake beef, taking away from meek takes away from drakes win there as well
Not saying you wrong but in retrospect we kinda just blurred all that s*** together if a nigga wasnt like a Blog Era Wale Wiz Cool Kids etc type rapper (if he didn’t fit in any easy non street lane and vaguely rapped about street s*** a la Meek) in retrospect Meek was a pretty intelligent and well spoken rapper compared to the street rappers in the 15 years after him lol
"Why isn't Kendrick talking about the political and economic state of the world on a Playboi Carti song"
"Why isn't Kendrick talking about the political and economic state of the world on a Playboi Carti song"
I don’t expect politics but Kendrick can side step the “he always goes away” thing if he comes back once a year to drop a crazy verse on a Like That or a song like this (trap new nigga song)
New Andre role type s***
"social commentary"
yes he makes social commentary even if you don't agree with it

ah i see, is it fair for drake to sort of fall back on the idea that he was probably still surrounded by black friends and likely experienced parts of black culture still? its not like canada has 0 black people
or is it just that thats not enough technically, like you still probably get most of your values from your parents type of thing?
