Of all the content CeeLo's worked on and cosigned, this is where he'd draw the lines?

I don't get why people are acting like this is anywhere near as bad as the lyrics in most of what we listen to.

It's explicit, but i don't see how it's morally wrong.

To be fair, there are women who say that to their children (teenage and young adults) the reason for saying that is often an issue of values, men and women of certain convictions (socially conservative or even feminists) wouldn't necessarily want cardi b as their role model and advise others to follow suit for their specific set of reasons.
For example, the question of women supporting "toxic masculinity" rappers is often raised too amongst feminists.

And if a woman does not feel that Cardi and Meg are good role models, more power to them. If they want to instill those values to their kids, that’s fine. If those daughters want to agree with their mother, that’s fine. If they want to dismiss all misogynistic rappers, that’s fine

But if they want to do the opposite, that’s fine too. It’s up to each individual woman to decide what is considered feminist to them

Nobody can tell me what their expressing. How is “”their sexuality” an answer?

    why isn't sexuality an answer?

you still continue to not give us what qualifies to you as an expression, we can't give you an answer until you give us your obviously very specific qualifications

Tell me why they’re making music like this and music videos for it. You’re a liar if you tell me it’s for woman’s empowerment or something. It’s for views but some of you can’t just admit that. Cardi has already said shes in rap for the money.

That doesn’t mean it isn’t expression tho

  • Aug 10, 2020

But I’d blame the industry more than the individual....like what’s Cardi gonna do, her old job was a stripper

Yes these are all “possible” except 2 which we know are for certain. Which brings us back to expression. We should be able to tell they are expressing those things but we don’t do they are expressing nothing

So you’re just gonna dismiss everything else?

It is lame for people to have high expectations for the Megs and Cardi B’s of the world. I think people are just worried of how much a platform a song like Wet Ass P**** is getting and how it reflects society cause art imitates life.

if we think art imitates life (or life imitates art?), we've got a lot more to be worried about than Wet Ass P****

What are people worried about. that people are gonna f*** more? Like there's literally nothing morally wrong with this

It is an answer its just not one you wanna hear so you're trying to invalidate it.

He’s right but no one cares at the end of the day. This thought process could also be applied to male artist and the perpetuation of certain stereotypes on that end but again, no one wants to have this convo so it ultimately doesn’t matter

Lmao at the ones saying this is empowering for women

You have impoverished black women looking at Cardi B and Megan living through them and having babies by dollar tree versions of Lil Baby and DaBaby all the time. Idk if they think it’s empowering or not at the time but they usually see through the bullshit these artists are selling after they have kids and realize their reality.

Whole neighborhoods flipped to BD in Chicago because of Chief Keef what are you saying lol

it's hilarious people are more worried about some women being more sexually confident than the content of rapper's like Keef.

There's an argument you shouldn't be criticising either but if we are, WAP isn't the one we should be caring about.

Definitely is a microcosm of a larger convo that’ll be avoided

Yeah I likened the s***for women in rap to the violence of men in rap, (gangsta rap vs thot rap) there's a interesting parallel to draw there for sure.
