I would take the male rappers saying these things seriously if they spoke up when Nelly did this
I'm so angry I saw his post and knew someone would do it
Stick to your gangland documentaries. ✌🏾 Chicago don’t move like LA or NY when it come to this s***. Niggas is not quizzing you on gang history. Goofy ass nigga
Yeah I likened the s***for women in rap to the violence of men in rap, (gangsta rap vs thot rap) there's a interesting parallel to draw there for sure.
Yep. Serious conversations on this topic and what serves us and what doesn’t is long overdue but again, no one cares.
It's just funny that "pro women" in this scene is mostly still being a "bad b****"
If girls feel powerful through their confidence regarding their body/sexuality then it's cool let them do them, but how come we've never seen a prominent female figure in the rap game right now use their position for anything else? You got what, Rapsody?
Megan was working towards a college degree right? I haven't really looked into her discog, but does she ever rap about that?
i can't remember but i think she actually does have some lines about working towards her degree

Nelly was criticized for this.
Hip Hop as been heavily criticised since it's inception.
Why are people acting like hip hop's glorification of violence and disrespect toward women is ignored and swept under the rug?
“The stereotypes that are celebrated and perpetuated, ultimately make the perception a reality. It is disenfranchising and it has caused a great deal of problems.”
“You have the ‘Heads of State,’ like Nicki Minaj or someone who is up there in accolade: success, visibility, a platform to influence. Nicki could be effective in so many other constructive ways, but it feels desperate.”
like what is he saying that is so wrong or untrue?
rap has an element of fantasy all the time tho.
of course it's going to be exaggerated, as most good music is, but this is probably more realistic than a lot of verses.
just seems odd that people like CeeLo have a problem with this but not all the other more extreme examples
There’s way too many elements in rap that really need addressing like gang culture, drug culture etc but most fans don’t go and recreate rap lyrics about shootouts and d*** deals unless they already live it. Now you got young girls coming straight out of a HS making an Onlyfans cause Cardi B said it was cool, yea it’s happening and yes they promote that type of lifestyle.
It’s these people business what they do but that kinda stuff obviously stems from somewhere and it’s at the forefront of rap culture creating an idea of “this is what rap promotes along with gun violence and d*** abuse”
i saw three days grace in your top artists and it made me want to listen to Never Too Late off topic ik but still
You realize the s*** you saying now about bad role models is the same s*** they said about Marvin Gaye in the 70s?
They say the same about every artist that does something unconventional for the times (ie Elvis presley hip thrusting).
The thing is we have reached a point where hypersexuality is merely a tool to sell (not sexuality but hypersexuality) its actually skewing our minds to perceive this as normal sexuality and a rift is forming between those who accept it as going with the times and those who preserve traditional values or are more socially conservative.
I can't tell whether or not this (these meg/cardi b type videos) is harmful to society or not but p*** def has has a large number of studies/essays on how detrimental it can be and how it changed whole generetaions to have a warped perception/expectation of sex. We can all agree that those vidoes are soft p*** or at least enough to arouse somebody( lol I remember some posters... let's not go there)
It's telling to me already that people defend these videos by saying that's it's an expression of sexuality.... when there's a case to be had that it's actually hypersexual fast food images being shown.
To be fair entertainers are always on the extreme that's what makes it entertaining right, but studies show that children and teens have a difficult time separating fantasy from reality... that's how things get normalized in our culture (western that is)

I’d say internet culture, p*** consumption, and social media are all more influential in the Onlyfans “revolution” than rap tbh.

Girls are not making onlyfans because of Cardi B
They know loser simps will pay whatever just for them to tease them on camera

It’s a combo
Girls are not making onlyfans because of Cardi B
They know loser simps will pay whatever just for them to tease them on camera
That co-sign helps man, just like kids wearing clothes cause Ye wore em,kids gonna do Onlyfans cause Cardi B said it in a rap song,it’s automatically cool.

You’re delusional if you think some rappers play no role in increasing that and things like gang banging and guns d**** etc
Definitely not,I encourage Cardi B and Megan to express themselves it just that their the content is used at the frontline of rap. Yes,we need to empower women more but as a whole,Cardi B and Meg is selling an image,a fantasy. If were gonna pretend like their actually sending a message to women, let’s make sure it’s for all women, not just a certain type.
I know plenty of women with a good head on their shoulders that love and look up to women like Cardi B and Meg...and to a certain extension women like Kim K. They admire their boss status and independent focused mindset.
Many of y'all need to come into contact with more women if you think only certain types of women like the Meg, Cardi B, Nicki, etc.
