Toosie Slide and LNCL dropped 2020 b
Toosie slide was impactful w/ the pandemic but was an incredibly mid song
LNCL was 2019 (I think?) and was a lackluster single in my opinion, always felt like a discount God’s Plan to me
Idk if I believe this, if it’s anything it’s prob SH3 with 3 songs on it. He hasn’t said a word about new music so
no disrespect but how do you people (derogatory) figure that Drake is in his prime right now
objectively speaking his legendary run ended with Scropion
we haven’t gotten a culture shifting moment from him since 2018
what is culture shifting to you? Having a big hit? cause that's the only difference

he didnt say anything about hnvm/herloss before dropping them either
think its starting to look obvious we're gonna get 2 albums a year for the next few years
90% chance this is a Yachty collab album

I hope not. Just a solo drake album

Nah making albums and songs that substantially shift the musical landscape & leave a lasting impact
Hits could be considered as well but that’s not what I was mainly referring to

Wait For U and Honestly Nevermind were cultural shifts. In a post pandemic landscape expecting something as big as God's Plan is unrealistic. The only songs on that level since have been Life Is Good and WAP (and they weren't really close)

the trailer Drake dropped a few months ago made it kinda clear he was working on a tape with yachty honestly and they're stuck together like glue
gonna be interesting for sure

But how could u compare those to his original run in terms of his “prime”

then what songs did he release in 2018 that did that? God's Plan didn't, Nice for What didnt
HNVM had more impact than Views/Scorpion, you've got Bad Bunny & Kendrick making pretty similar music

HNVM having more impact than Views is insaneeeee 😂
Drake just dropped a s***ty dance-album he did not reinvent or reinvigorate the genre

You’re right re: Scorpion, that was definitely moreso a hits album & I honestly didn’t rank it very high in his discog until subsequent releases
Disagree about Views though, I like Honestly Nevermind a lot but I don’t think that’s prime Drake music either
Signs & Like I’m Supposed To wash the whole tracklist imo

he didnt reinvent or reinvigorate any genre with views either though?
I don't remember top artists copying Views tbh and Views didn't even have a style to it, it was fairly all over the place sound wise

I'm more so looking at his albums and not necessarily hits. This string of albums from DLDT-HL are on par with TC-Views imo. He delivered 2 classics in the same year, that has to be considered his prime or at least him entering a second prime

Maybe it’s just me then
Personally don’t rank any of the 2019+ projects even close to the albums he put out 2009-2017
Kendrick bit Sticky and Beyonce dropped Renaissance which included a song from Drake. Honestly Nevermind objectively was a cultural shift. Hate it or love it that got a lot of looks from the right people

The legs Views has was insane though
One Dance, Controlla, Feel No Ways, Too Good
And it’s deep-cuts still get so much love to this day, Fire & Desire trends every other week
HNVM had comparatively no longevity

Heated was written in 2020 way before HNVM was conceptualized, as was a lot of the rest of the Bey album
I get where you’re coming from but don’t think it was as substantial as u perceive

Yeah in terms of hits for sure but I don't really think any of those songs shifted the music landscape much like the guy above originally said
Good. Keep dropping. Tired of these rappers too afraid to work. Drizzy shows them what it takes. I hate a privileged rapper.

Don't see him dropping two collab projects back to back tbh. That'll be OD, even for him.
If he's dropping a new project right before the tour starts, it'll be because he dropped a collab project back in November and wants a set of even newer songs that are by him alone which he can collab on tour. I bet 21 Savage drops his solo album between now and when the tour ends in October as well, so he too has some newer solo songs to perform.
Yatchy is booked to be on tour from July till December. I don't see Drake dropping a collab album with him, when he knows Yatchy and himself won't be able to perform together till next year probably. Makes no sense. Him spending time with Yatchy doesn't necessarily mean they're making a project together. They're just cool with each other and have always been and he just finally let Yatchy contribute creatively to his music for the first time (something he may not do as much on his next project before people start saying Yatchy is the one giving him all his juice).
