So to kill Makima, Denji used what he learned from surviving being shot into space and removed his heart again so that hybrid chainsaw man could take on Makima and the Human Weapons and fool/distract her via smell and coming at her in the weaker form while Denji snuck up on her with the last of Power's blood to form a chainsaw and have just enough blood to attack Makima and get Pochita back in his chest ?

Also I noticed the crows esp in the episode but I thought they were just a stylistic choice, do they signify something more than that ?

It’s part of her supernatural abilities and not explained beyond she can control beings to her will. Kishibe understood that Makima could listen in to his conversation with Quanxi during the International Assassins Arc. Later in the arc, his suspicions is confirmed when Makima utters a phrase said by one of Quanxi’s girlfriends despite not being in the vicinity before she killed them all. Because this part of her arsenal is mysterious we can only speculate as to what conditions that’s placed on her to be able to use this. Did the Control Devil take two of the five senses for her to use them in this way? Who knows really.

As for the crows it’s implied that before they’re killled they were being targeted. Since she can’t differentiate through sight and were in a hurry she had birds fly and sniff out the enemy literally. I guess smell is her sight so you can rule sight out of her borrowing capabilities.
