But let me also say, im glad he didnt give definitive answers to many questions, as i think they didnt necessarily need one. We don't really need to know where reze, kobeni and kishibe are, we don't need to know what devil pochita actually was (in fact i find the speculation thats already being made so cool), we don't need to know what kobeni's contract was, i could go on but you get the gist. I LOVE when stories leave aspects up to interpreation and why not even headcanons, makes the world feel alive and the story lasts longer in the fans' conscience
I'll have to re-read the entire manga AGAIN and read all the interviews he gave, i need some time to digest this
Yeah memes aside I definitely don't hate it but I need to re-read all of this to process it properly
Im so happy fujimoto toyed with us even with the final chapter, who would've thought we would've been here a month ago. Whatever the consensus on this ending becomes, he hasnt really lost his author's touch, and that makes me of course very excited for what comes next.
I don't even think this ending wasnt planned like this anymore, i geniunely think now he wanted it to end in an anticlimatic way
Might be my developing insanity but the more i think about it the more im liking the last two chapters.
Part 2, moreso than part 1, focuses a lot on what being chainsaw man, and thus the hero, means to denji and to those surrounding him. This precludes him from growing up, as he doesnt get to make mistakes, or rather, those don't have time to affect him. He's constantly made to choose between continuing to be the hero or to live a normal life, and he either refuses to choose thinking he's above consequences, or chooses chainsaw man as that identity gives him the rush of dopamine and instant gratification that has become his d*** since he got into this mess with the very first chapters.
But that kept breaking his mental the more the series kept going, reaching a tipping point with nayuta's death. Thats when he started really losing his damn mind. His delusions inside the aging devil's world, his ever prominent trauma over his guilt not only for his father's death, but for everyone else he didnt choose (fire devil scene), and finally, and imo most telling, his desperation for human contact in the form of s***with asa/yoru as the world is ending in the most terrifying way, to the point he was willing to take yoru's word for asa's consent, knowing damn well they're not the same entity.
I really do get why pochita chose to remove himself from denji's life, as tragic as it is, considering they shared a real, pure connection that denji could never find again in that reality.
The ending gives credence to pochita's thinking, as denji really becomes a better person and a somewhat normal teenager (not without his issues obv) now that he doesnt have the cheatcode of the strongest super hero's power, this way avoiding all the emotional manipulation he suffered too.
Denji might be the only shonen mc that didnt fulfill his dreams by getting superpowers, in actuality staying a normal powerless teenager may have lead to a better life for him, at least i think so, as denji seems happy to live in mundanity, something that chainsaw man could never give him
Between fire punch and csm fujimoto must really hate superheroes, or at least the concept of them being ultimately good but troubled characters that use their powers for good
I have to finally get around to finishing JJK. First season was cool but didnt suck me in like CSM did.
JJK season 1 was okay
s2 is what everyone loves
So to sum it up: Denji forgets about Pochita in exchange for a normal life. I almost want to hate it but it’s more bittersweet than anything and that’s in line with Fujimoto
i love it
jojo spoilers Yoo.. aint this stone ocean end?
which means CSM:SBR is otw

Good writeup
this isnt even close to jjk's horrific ass last half man lmao
JJK ending just felt… flat. It came off like a generic ass conclusion: no real surprises, no strong emotional payoff, and barely any effort put into properly sending off the characters.
CSM ending somehow feels even more abrupt. It wraps up so quickly that the character send-offs land even weaker than JJK imo. There’s a strong sense that so much more could’ve been said.. more reflection, more interaction, more closure. Like, what do you mean that's the last we see of Asa?

Good write-up and the ideas are interesting, but the execution is lacking imo. I dont even rlly wanna use that term, but Asa pretty much got treated like a plot device. Her character (which was really compelling at one point) got sidelined so the story could resolve Denji, which undercut her own arc.

Aot goat. CSM Season 1 goat. JJK goat. CSM Part 1 goat.
THROW AWAY CSM part 2.
I think Fujimoto should hire more assistants (if possible) before he starts work on whatever he wants to do next or he probably gonna burn out again
He should really just do a short series next. Get all of it in while heh as the inspiration, but doesnt have to continue it because of popularity.

I actually think he tends to get bored easily, so a 3/4 year long serialized manga might be too much for him. I think he simply prefers writing short stories

For what its worth, i agree on asa and yoru, i feel they didnt get a narratively satisfying conclusion. Maybe i'll change my mind with the re-read, but this is how i stand rn
