I actually think he tends to get bored easily, so a 3/4 year long serialized manga might be too much for him. I think he simply prefers writing short stories
I was about to compare this to Fire Punch, and man, I didn't realise that the entirety of CSM was 232 chapters long. I do think losing the assistants he has had for so long contributed to the burnout but yeah you're right, he should stick to 100 chapters or less. Fire Punch and CMS Part 1 already shown us that he can deliver some great work in short time
Let's keep it going. I was here for AoT leak era. I was here for CSM Season 1 animation wars. I was here for JJK leak era. I'ma s*** where things need to be s***ted!
Aot goat. CSM Season 1 goat. JJK goat. CSM Part 1 goat.
THROW AWAY CSM part 2.
Bruh I have all the ammo I need at this point. This was unequivocally a bad f***ing ending and all you see is the cope from CSM fans who wouldn’t do the same for other series.
Fuji is great at short series, and I’ll give him CSM part 1 but part 2 was a travesty in story writing and shouldn’t exist. Time we be truthful
Super facts. I feel this started with aot. People are too quick to meme and make definitive claims on endings to years long series cause they cant control their emotions. Of course these series have tons of fans who've grown and have developed a strong bond with, but discussion always becomes too toxic and lacking in critical/beyond surface level thinking.
Then the anime drops and suddenly people realize these endings were never bad, people were just too quick to judge and didnt sit with them enough. It already happened with aot and mha, im sure it'll happen to the others too (although personally my problems with jjk already started in the anime and it didnt do anything to fix them, so neither time nor the adaptation seems to improve my thoughts on it)

I love part 2 as well so i think hes able to handle longer stories too, but he also had a 2 year break in which he could write whatever he wanted so he had a clean break from csm.
But yeah his calling is clearly short stories, hes a movie buff after all.
I do selfishly wish for at least another long-ish form serialized manga from him, he's such an eccentric writer, he's the most fun to follow along weekly imo cause you truly never know what he'll do next

Also i feel shonen fans get too attached to things like wrapping up all plot points, characters having positive character arcs where they learn how to be better people or get over stuff in their life and overcome hardships, endings being definitive and complete, as if these were the only pillars of good writing, which i think really limits their perception of art and storytelling.
Devilman is deadass a top 10 manga in terms of influence, impact and probably acclaim and does none of those above, yet the ending is praised as one of the greatest every created in the medium
I think a big part of it is weekly reading for many fans consists of comparing the chapters as they release with the theories and headcanons fans made during the wait, and thus the work is mainly judged for how much it aligns with the fans' own expectations, something that most series cant do obviously, and then when the anime drops and the dust on the manga has been settled, the fans are able to see the work for what it is actually trying to say, so of course opinions become a lot more positive, because most of these endings are at least fine and coherent.
Ive seen so many criticize fujimoto for not addressing plot points he clearly never wanted to explore (like denji finding the blood fiend as if it were a fundamental pillar of this plot and not a way for Power to make it easier for denji to swallow the pill of losing her)
JJK ending just felt… flat. It came off like a generic ass conclusion: no real surprises, no strong emotional payoff, and barely any effort put into properly sending off the characters.
CSM ending somehow feels even more abrupt. It wraps up so quickly that the character send-offs land even weaker than JJK imo. There’s a strong sense that so much more could’ve been said.. more reflection, more interaction, more closure. Like, what do you mean that's the last we see of Asa?
honestly i think denji character arc was pretty much done by the past couple chapters and him wanting to f\*\*\* yoru even after the circumstances were pretty telling, hence pochita wanting to pull the plug .
i do agree that asa / yoru probably had a lot more in the tank especially yoru but im not really mad at how asa ended seeing how as their lives got saved by pochita in the end (for better or worse). i do think characters like fami, her sister and fumiko were seriously underutilized but it is what it is
jjk's last half is worse to me because majority of the new characters they introduced werent interesting to begin with and they pulled some absolute nonsense asspulls lmao
stardust
only one with sense itt i fear
It’s national s*** on Fuji day. Now I see why yall mofos enjoy going in the JJK thread so much. This s*** kinda fun. Where that part 3 announcement
I see you edited your last comment to be an ass, you ain’t slick
I honestly don't know how to feel at the moment. Need to sit down with this. Maybe do a reread

I did a reread last couple days and read/reread the final volume today and I still don't know how to feel![]()
Lol you’re delulu but it’s okay brudda. CSM part 1 is still good.
You are a Stan man there is no way to get through to you. Most of us like both series and would’ve loved for both of them to have great finales but JJK had two ass endings and CSM had one great ending and one decent ending
It is what it is. It’s hard to stick the landing. Rarely happens

I disagree and think JJK had one decent ending (OG) and one great ending (Módulo) but you’re a CSM stan and we are on the opposite ends. I am doing this only because fuk boi @hayabusa and some other dude, I think his name was Rano, only came in the JJK thread to do exactly this during chapter releases. It was annoying to read when trying to discuss anything. But I’ll let yall be (unless I’m mentioned directly or indirectly) and do hope for a part 3 which can correct some late issues.
I wanted CSM to succeed, genuinely liked part 1.

And I agree that endings aren’t easy. It doesn’t ever negate the whole story.
AOT for instance is still an all timer despite its ending which I’m critical about.

only difference is i actually articulated why i didnt like what i was reading in JJK but d***riding dweebs like you and that kenig loser took it as blind hate or were being purposely obtuse to said critiques
mind you i actually liked JJK up until like early culling games and even recommended it to ppl on here and outside of this site to get into pre culling games
i can admit the flaws for part 2 and i dont think fujimoto fully stuck the landing for this. can you do the same for your series lmao
Now that a few hours have passed… yeah, this ending just wasnt very good.
I’ve praised Fujimoto before, and I’ve always defended part II. I kept saying ppl needed to trust the process, that even if some chapters felt meandering, he’d eventually bring it all together in a strong conclusion. But looking back, I think I gave his ass too much credit as a writer.
I feel like when it comes to Fujimoto, his flashes of brilliance carry a lot of weight, and bc of that a lot of fans end up doing the heavy lifting when it comes to interpreting and justifying his work as a whole. Like yes, he has proven he can write great stuff - which just makes it more frustrating to now see so many interesting threads and developments basically thrown out the window for no real reason.
And tbh, I don’t really care how much meta commentary or thematic depth he might’ve been aiming for if it comes at the expense of the fundamentals, like writing coherent character arcs. For me, personally, that trade-off just doesn’t work.

I hope more information follows like there had to be some fallout or clash between him and jump or his team. Even if it were to be health related why not just take a break to reflect or give yourself time to actually flesh this out? Doubt anyone was rushing him for this
But if this is truly was how he wanted everything to go..then well.......yaimeanya
