I can imagine being in public even as a small female artist and the level of fear is f***ing horrible. Even if you arent the best looking your still a s***symbol to many people and you SEE everyone online talking about how much they would risk to f*** you.

Even if you take breaks from music, the level of demonization, is ridiculous even from those who cant theoretically sexually assault you.

Male artists in particular can go on Racist Kick Streamer #252’s platform laughing it up and barely get any pushback but let some rnb singer call someone who’s been cyberbullying them fat and they’ll wanna behead them.

Think this is more fanbase curation than gender specific. The people that go on some Adin Ross stream do not have audiences that remotely give a f***. People def criticize it, but it's' not enough to stop them.

Kinda similar to how Nicki or Doja can say wild s*** and their fans will support it or not really care. Someone like a SZA would have a foot on her neck if she acted like them.

Nicki minaj and her stans being gatekeeper weirdos that will be a burden on your life, the hating ass OGs such as iggy you ahve to just tolerate, the incredibly parasocial fans, the fact you have to interact with stan twitter, the way your record sales affect the narratives around you, the way rowdy or agressive behaviour from you will way quicker hurt your value.

You also have to be careful about how you talk about men and your relationships too, because it will be a***yzed and taken to a different way. In rap especially.

calling out misogyny will be branded as complaining or weaponizing your identity if its not obvious explicit misogyny.

They missing out on some dope ass music frfr

I’m not even gonna act like I don’t listen to more men than women but Jill Scott, Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Solange, Clairo, Missy, Noname, Amy winehouse, Beyonce, Rihanna etc i could keep going all got some of my fav songs and albums ever. Dope music is dope music

Right its one thing to dismiss JT or Ice Spice because you know what to expect, but to be dismissive across genres is just some he man woman hater s***

Is that genuinely the type of artist you think I’m talking about man?

I mean you said a talented artist. It's women in rap who are talented and can rap about getting s***ted out. Or is there only one particular style of rap that gets called talented these days?

Noname made a track about getting her back blown out in Montego Bay. I can't relate to that, but we all know she's talented.

This thread looks like it was inspired by Roc Nation lmao. Let it go guys, Most of these girls can't rap no matter how much you try to force it down everyone's throats. If they were held to the same standards as male rappers, they wouldn't survive long. Nicki is the last one who had the ability to hang with male rappers or even outrap them

Jill Scott wrote a song about getting her tiddies f***ed and her man bustin on em. You gonna try to tell me she's not talented even though you probably can't relate to that?

It's cause their fanbases overlap with the female popstar stans

If Doechii was a man, she would be getting clowned everyday for selling 11k first week on top of the industry plant allegations. Lil baby's last album sold 140,000 first week and people say he fell off. She's getting off easy

Doechii is washing damn near any mainstream male rapper she just outrapped westside gunn on a boom bap beat. Megan can rap well too she just doesnt have much subject matter. Little Simz raps very well and has some of the best lyrical projects of the decade. Che Noir would outrap basically any underground boom bap rapper. Glorilla makes better club music than most male rappers. They are held to the same if not higher standards.

Its not actually, thats the male gaze and thats on you. To people that arent weird straight men they dont immediately dismiss it as p***. heres more if shes dressed conservative enough that your gooner brain wont stop you from recognizing any rap skill dawg. your quite literally dismissing her off the fact the woman isnt dressed like a lady enough and has sexual imagery in some of her bars
