thoughts
it was a pretty good album
I flip between loving and hating certain songs bc his vocal tone was kinda annoying
but at least he was locked in thematically and delivered his corny but heartfelt bars, he was so authentic in comparison to his later work
production was amazing though, A+ beats on here
personal favorites
disappointment at the time
in retrospect wish it was the "worst" he got instead of big day
I never got around to listening to this bc of the Apple Music f***ery going on back in the day and bc 2016 was stacked
Insane how Big Day retroactively made this album disappear from conversations. Would be considered a classic today if it wasn’t for big day

S*** was overrated asl but the industry was trying their best to make him the new Drake
It seems better now than when it first came out
It’s a classic I’m afraid
Summer friends man
Great project
Classic, better than acid rap to me
Acid rap dont got a verse as beautiful as Blessings 2.
I speak to G-d in public
As a black man graduating college that year that s*** meant something bruh
this waaaay better than album version
This site got a funny thing against religion (I'm religious but not christian) so off rip the coloring book reaction on this site was hilariously biased.
There was obviously growth in his content from acid rap and there was still a sense of humanity in it prior to the “im married haha im superior than yall” gimmick he had during the big day.
We also got some fire gems during this era like
Like…Chance was clearly improving as an artist (Coloring Book you can tell bro had a focus with the joint), rapper, and popularity.
Think the lights got too bright for him and fear/laziness the reason for that long break after those post coloring book singles (more proof chance was still improving: Work Out and 65th & Ingleside did what the entire Big Day album thought it was doing.)
Same D****, How Great, Angels, Blessings 1 & 2 are some of Chance’s best songs and also bro also had 2 of his best bops with No Problem & All Night.
My big homie told me, "Nigga, growth and development
Go and settle down, don't settle for settlement
She got you closer to God than you two ever been
She moved over from Evanston, you moved over from Eggleston"
I aint from Chicago so I dont know the distance between evanston and eggleston but goddamn that 65th song was beautiful
Sad they couldnt make it work.
I remember thinking it was kinda trash in comparison to Acid Rap when it dropped but everybody loved it so much that I just ended up thinking maybe it’s not for me
I liked a good 3, 4 joints on there
No Problem
How Great
Smoke Break

I remember being obsessed with grown ass kid when it came out, and I haven’t listened to chance since the pandemic. Damn time flies
