I mean who’s surprised? With the over saturation of music the main goal is getting as many people to hear your song. Artist probably don’t know they did exactly this but this is what they mean by marketing campaigns .

Some of these services will claim to get you streams , views etc and all there doing is using bots to inflate your numbers to make you look good.

This type of s*** has been happening since the beginning of the music industry. This isn't new. Every artist on a label uses tactics like this to sway opinions, etc.

every label is involved in this on some level now for sure, i thought we kinda all knew this s*** when it came out both sides used bots in the beef. anything to inflate numbers or reach is being utilized to max potential

what is surprising for a lot of people is that it is also being used by artists they never would have expected. fake underground niggas like fakemink cameron winter etc. they really thought they were listening to something completely organic

ye exactly i wouldn't bat an eye if someone told me any mainstream artist pop/rap/whatever uses this strategy but underground artists doing this feels a lil dishonest although again i dont really mind it's the game i suppose

i never assume this with any artist i get into anymore honestly, usually by the time it hits ktt's orbit they've already been co-opted by some label a&r or digital marketing agency. i just care if i like the music or not cus even the "underground" artists that aren't being pushed heavy have some nepo or industry ties somehow regardless atp. organic rise in music industry is impossible now without compromise or co-opting

I don't have a problem with it, it's the game they play. If the music is good and connects with an audience, then who cares how they marketed it.

This isn't true at all. Exposure and hype rule the day. Taste is exercised by the minority.

Connections in the entertainment industry matter. A lot of great artists have connections that helped them get in the door.
