she's just alright until you realize that she's insanely mid when it comes to jazz
mid as a pop artist too but she's alright
I mean who’s surprised? With the over saturation of music the main goal is getting as many people to hear your song. Artist probably don’t know they did exactly this but this is what they mean by marketing campaigns .
Some of these services will claim to get you streams , views etc and all there doing is using bots to inflate your numbers to make you look good.
funny as hell that i was skeptical of literally every single artist mentioned in here, to varying degrees and at various times
This type of s*** has been happening since the beginning of the music industry. This isn't new. Every artist on a label uses tactics like this to sway opinions, etc.

every label is involved in this on some level now for sure, i thought we kinda all knew this s*** when it came out both sides used bots in the beef. anything to inflate numbers or reach is being utilized to max potential

what is surprising for a lot of people is that it is also being used by artists they never would have expected. fake underground niggas like fakemink cameron winter etc. they really thought they were listening to something completely organic

Then they're naive. Even "indie" or "underground" artists signed to labels will use marketing to boost their music.

Ok but what is the equivalent of a company using hundreds or thousands of iPhones for fake accs vs tactics used in the 00s or before that time

Payola for radio plays, influencing magazine writers & tastemakers, etc

ye exactly i wouldn't bat an eye if someone told me any mainstream artist pop/rap/whatever uses this strategy but underground artists doing this feels a lil dishonest although again i dont really mind it's the game i suppose

Getting multi-billion dollar retailers to frontline your products based solely on your label paying for it

buying views and followers was the key all along

i never assume this with any artist i get into anymore honestly, usually by the time it hits ktt's orbit they've already been co-opted by some label a&r or digital marketing agency. i just care if i like the music or not cus even the "underground" artists that aren't being pushed heavy have some nepo or industry ties somehow regardless atp. organic rise in music industry is impossible now without compromise or co-opting
I don't have a problem with it, it's the game they play. If the music is good and connects with an audience, then who cares how they marketed it.
as soon as i got into cameron and read his mom was some NY socialite type i was like oh yeah makes sense, but the music speaks for itself to me
you can be a nepo baby/have a digital marketing agency pushing you everywhere but if your music is ass it won't matter (smerz)

smerz is a whole other level of this tbh
it does take away the sanctity of the underground to be willing to do this…idk
it’s like watching your homie blow up and wondering how he’s doing it and bro never puts you on cause you genuinely think he just got lucky, then you find out it’s the same tactics the labels are doing that ya’ll were supposed to be organically against as upcoming artists. I can see why dudes have fallouts with their day 1s once the curtain is revealed

There just larping. Legit buying social acceptance because a lot of people are just a hive mind.
Paying DJs to play there song
Buying fake chains
S*** even music videos of rappers and having all these models touch and feel on them
It’s always about controlling the narrative. Fake it to you make it if you will.

This isn't true at all. Exposure and hype rule the day. Taste is exercised by the minority.

who are you listening to that is completely organic and not being pushed by some machine/agency?
