Huuuuh how s Alone Again more experimental than the songs on this album

Electronically based albums usually depend heavily on drums and Abel opens up the album singing over little to no drums for 2 minutes.

Then when the drums come in, it’s more than justified.

90% of this charli album sounds just like alone again vocally.

When charli does decide to forgo drums for a decent amount of time on party 4 u, it sounds just like Selah off JIK.

Anthems sounds like futsal shuffle even down to the “I get existential” flow.

And most the drums on this album sound like it was copy and pasted from Hardest To Love then edited a little.

No white girl panties escaping Abel and that’s what Charli album cover tryna tell u.

Great album. By far the most experimental from start to finish but it’s highest experimental highs are creatively derivative of what’s goin on in hip hop. It doesn’t reach the heights of those moments in hip hop, but as a whole, it maintains its experimentation longer than any project in recent memory.

Drums like Hardest to Love were a thing before HTL

Its just drim n bass influence tbh I dont agree with you, while AH has excellent production from start to finish I think its less risky than this Charli XCX album or her previous one too

Find me a song as popular as HTL with drums like that in recent memory.

U can’t compare charli and weeknd out of context.

Abel has much more pressure to hit his numbers. Nobody making top 10 hits is experimenting like him.

Charli can go crazy cause she doesn’t have as much pressure to sell. Even with all that, she basically dropped Alone Again the album featuring Yeezus and Hardest To Love drums.

Again. Amazing album. Strong aoty contender, but it is what it is.

You do know shes being produced by AG Cook and other people like Dylan Brady whove been making music like this since a very long time, not everything sounding remotely experimental isnt Yeezus lol, and the vocal effects on this album are very much in the same vein as Bon Iver which isnt surprising since BJ Burton (BI's producer) worked heavily on this one

And btw I think Charli has more pressure on doing numbers since she has been a pop act since the beggining of her carreer lol unlike Abel

Charli is pop nominally. She never ever did Abel numbers. Stop it.

And how u gon say everything experiemental is not yeezus and then name a whole ass yeezus collaborater to buttress your point? Justin’s part on yeezus vocally sounds like charli whole album.

AG and Dylan just started making music. They were not a thing before yeezus. AG music around that time sound like standard dance music.

    Stop the cap.

That Justin Vernon bridge on im in it would fit comfortably on every song on this album except for maybe forever.

Bob iver makes a bunch of auto tune stacked vocal folk music outside of kanye collabs.

And common bro. Don’t act like u see no similarities between the high pitched vocal delivery on this album, and alone again. No body pitched up that high to the point of obscuring their lyrics like that especially when u take into account that lyrically, charli and weeknd have clearly discernible lyrics most of the time.

idk tbh i dont really hear it, Weeknd vocal effects are more traditional (while still being interesting and very well done of course), he stacks vocals and has lots of reverbs and delays, I would say the song on AH I feel has the same kind of vocal processing would be Too Late on the chorus with the pitch shifting, but yeah you're right the way they're obscuring the lyrics is similar on many fronts, tbh this thing with processing vocals seems to be very influenced by Francis and the Lights who's been very influenced by Bon iver so yeah it makes sense lol

    what

U keep naming all these indie ass niggas who are still clearly influenced by what I sed this album is influenced by while vehemently denying all the hiphop this album takes from.

U naming kanye ass chance ass frank ass francis and the lights who’ve been doin the same s*** for years and when charli finally makes something vocally obscure, u ignore that it sounds like top 50 ass alone again that dropped during quarantine and this charli album is a quarantine album.

U juelzing separating charli from weeknd calling her pop like they both not pop.

If u look at the sounds and structure and context, this is simply experiemental hiphop just like bjork.

But tryna separate it because she’s not black and from the hood is wack.

Same s*** being done on this website not calling post a rapper.

Black ppl and white ppl have different ways of life in America, but when it comes to music, it’s all the same s***.

The aesthetic difference from skin to vocal inflections doesn’t change this.

There’s this need in white america to separate themselves from the black music that they copy.

How u think rock became a white genre?

How I’m feeling now and after hours are very similar despite one artist being more ostensibly hip hop.

Weeknd and Charli both came on the scene as rap singers. Singers rap singing on rap songs and over rap production.

They are both pop artists. Weeknd more so because he has to adhere to conventions of pop music like making music that’s popular. Popular is accessible and weeknd is more pop and accessible than charli while also being more hip hop.

And what I meant by Charli id more pop than the Weeknd is that weeknd started underground going more pop with the years and charli started kinda like a standart manufactured pop act
