Côme on man I was just saying it doesnt sound like After hours to me ... no need to make it about race lol

Ain’t about race it’s about culture. And if talking about this kinda of stuff makes u uncomfortable, stop talking bout music. This industry literally had something called race records and that didn’t change. They just made the terms more pc.

U say charli album is more like bon iver and francis and the lights, but not at all like yeezus and after hours. That’s lazy specifically because your comparison is more about race than music.

And if it wasn’t you’d be able to say exactly wat makes it more like one and not the other while accounting for the one and the other being related and similar.

And what I meant by Charli id more pop than the Weeknd is that weeknd started underground going more pop with the years and charli started kinda like a standart manufactured pop act

It doesn’t matter how she was marketed. She was never as popular as weeknd at any point in her career even when weeknd was underground. This is not 1997. Being underground in hip hop today isn’t literal.

You could market her any way u want, she’d still be less pop than Pink Floyd.

Doing pop music doesn’t automatically make u more pop than pop rappers.

Y’all could of appreciated this album for the aoty contender that it is.

But y’all had to act like it’s some symbol of pop dominance over hip hop on a hip hop site.

Then when somebody disagrees, y’all are confused and in shambles.

Pop the new underground rap. Y’all wouldnt support it if it didn’t make u feel different for liking something that’s not the most popular.

If y’all like the music, talk about the music. Don’t take shots at other artists to overcompensate for your lack of identity.

Y’all don’t got honor respect or customs

That post was 100% not directed at u. That’s why I didn’t quote u. U seem to have a guilty conscience.

And u can have an opinion, but if u aren’t able to articulate yourself against critiques of your opinion, then go back to the drawing board.

Bob iver works with and appears on the albums of one of the most influential and experimental pop/hiphop artists ever. Once more, those albums that bon iver was on had a great influence over weeknd. So making some clear distinction between weeknd and Justin vernon without specific deliniations is agenda driven.

They can both have equal influence over the album, but to act like one has a bunch and the other has none is completely disingenuous.

I never said bon iver couldn’t have influence on this album, because I don’t resent his influence over others.

Knowing that bon iver and The Weeknd are similar vocally and both influential, but denying the weeknd’s influence is some agenda driven s***.

That’s like saying. Nah, the apple ain’t red, it’s round.

    Both things can be true.

If u said, nah, no weeknd influence. More like ian curtis it would make more sense because they are vocally different.

The fact that you said no not this guy, but a guy who sounds similar and hasn’t released a project as recent and influenctial is clear evidence that u have ulterior motives.

Ain’t no hiding behind the whole, it’s my opinion bullshit. Ppl will ask u to back it up to see if it’s backed by honesty.

man you're full of s*** if you think Bon Iver and The Weeknd are anything alike

Subject matter, production, instrumentations, vocal delivery, inflections, writing... all different, and what you mean Bon Iver released an album not even a year ago, with extensive contributions from one of the collaborator IN CHARLIS ALBUM, THATS LITTERALY WHY IM SAYING IT SOUNDS MORE LIKE BON IVER THAN THE WEEKND BECAUSE THERES LITTERALY THE SAME PRODUCER NOT BECAUSE I HAVE AN AGENDA AGAINST THE WEEKND OR HIP HOP OR BLACK PEOPLE god damn it why do you have to get all political about it

  • May 18, 2020

After Hours is my aoty and im a fan of everything The Weeknd has done and yes he's been using the Prismizer effect, but not even on After Hours, if you had said Starboy or that one song with Cashmere Cat I wouldve agreed with you but whatever

You’re gonna say Justin and Abel don’t both use an autotune head voice? You sound like u never listened to them.

Your perception is dominated by the lifestyle the music is about more than the music itself.

If u think charli made wat she called a quarantine album with heavy falsetto autotune and hip hop and dance drums and the biggest album during quarantine that used heavy falsetto auto tune hip hop and dance drums aren’t even comparable, u clearly have an agenda.

U sucking off bon iver only makes things worse. Now calm down.
