Who ever told Megan that Rock me to sleep song would be a good idea needs to be fired
It definitely did
All this
Just to crack 100k is sad.
yeah, the industry keeps pushing her to become an icon when people clearly don't love her on that level. with that being said though, these are decent numbers and she's gonna get a genuine hit out of this album so i can't chalk it up to a full L.
103k is like okay at most.
This girl been on 2 #1 hits, been co-signed by the entire industry, been in the news all year, been on every award show, Saturday Night Live, Late Night shows, and has had like 7 hits at this point.
I don’t think her label “faked” any numbers they simply went up because Body kept going viral and so the album ended up outperforming the earlier numbers.

should've been a doja song
It really is nothing tho lol, her team right now just f***ed up big time.
I don’t think you can just put it on her team.
They did a good job of making her the new “it” girl in the industry and around social media.
I think a lot of people just like the idea of Megan the stallion and the music came second to that.
Interested to see the second week numbers
even tho he's a spineless b**** 90% of the time akademiks is the only one in the media pointing out meg's disappointing sales and inconsistent story about the shooting

Money went into marketing and PR and they trimmed the budget for the album sans the sample clearances. Like you said it's the idea/image of artist rather than the music itself, this is a major problem in music today. Social media traction doesn't garner sales, these businesses need to understand that.

screaming at this fanfiction

If anything her team did exactly what they should have for marketing; it's more on the actual music than the machine behind it with this album.
Meg's image just couldn't hold people's attention long enough with this album because the product is just severely subpar.

Eh
I think they propped her up and set everything in motion perfectly with the marketing
Had Megan dropped a Hot Pink or Invasion of Privacy type album she would’ve projected much higher
So far it looks like Body is keeping the album afloat
Prob should've done better but it's aite
End of the day a lot of people like her more as a figure than actually checking for her music
I'm also 99% certain this album wasn't planned to come out like it did and a better rollout and more cohesive aesthetic would've benefitted her a lot. Honestly wonder did savage taking off like it did move a lot of their plans around re meg

The marketing team did their job, the executive producers/A&Rs didn't.

Q-Tip gonna save her

I’ve realized this too, a lot of artists seems to shift more towards “an image” or “gimmick” opposed to actually making enjoyable organic music
And what’s worse is now people think chart positions determine whether or not they’re here to stay which clearly isn’t the case
How many artists have we seen free fall from the charts ?
The marketing team did their job, the executive producers/A&Rs didn't.
Tbh I think the idea of "experimenting" and trying to be more "versatile" for them just meant making a quick tiktok-type track in the middle of what already felt like one song of an album, which only highlighted just how simple (but good in some cases) her formula is -- instead of actually trying new things altogether with the project like new production and style throughout. So it may have been producers/A&Rs.
Whatever the reason, these numbers are just not lining up with expectation.
Second week might be a huge yikes.
