Facto. But people gonna make you seem like you’re prejudiced

They can slap on whatever labels they like, people who've talked to me before on this site know that I'm an honest and unbiased person.

Parents may not be the sole contributor to how a child is raised, but they have the greatest influence.

But this society is anti-parent and anti-child. So we'll just blame the parents and continue to support the system that produces them.

Exactly! Everyone in this thread needs to go read reddit.com/r/Teachers and just see what's going on. Parents do NOT want to take accountability anymore. They think their children are "100% good kids that mean no harm!" (while their kids are stabbing and jumping people in daylight).

It's a teaching crisis in this country for that very reason. Teachers go to school to teach, but end up realizing they need to become behavioral management specialist.

Okay but parents still have the most influence over the environment, you can't tell me otherwise.

It’s a complicated issue and I’m not 100% sure if I agree with this. They have the most influence over the household sure, idk about the whole environment.

If this was 2009 before the internet was so accessible and smart phones weren’t as prevalent, I would have agreed with you. Now, it’s probably 60/40.

It's completely ruined. Mentioned this before but the NCLB act and then (now) even worse the ESS act have ruined education in this country.

Good point, the internet has a huge influence on the younger generation to a scary extent.

Or maybe people should just stop having children if they can't control them.

I hate how mfs throw EVERYTHING on parents and act like they weren’t teens themselves at one point. Parents can raise a shorty the best way they can and the child can still go down the wrong path. Y’all act like these kids don’t get influences from sources outside of the parents. Blaming the parents for everything is just the easy copout.

you the type to have no accountability.

Type to not study for a test and try to cheat off someone’s paper then blame the system.

Don’t have kids if you can’t raise them

No, you moron. Everyone knows that society has influences but parents are the biggest factor in whether a kid goes off in the wrong direction or not

These people are acting smooth brained. Most of these kids prob come from single parent households and there are so many studies about its effects, shouldn’t even be an argument. Ktt is bizarro world

You gotta be kidding me. . we can pull up statistics if you want. Good household is more likely going to produce “good” kid. Of course, outliers exist. You’re an example of someone who shouldn’t have kids

I respect other people's views, but denying that parents have control over their kids is a ridiculous cope.

being a single parent in and of itself is a symptom of larger societal forces. Nobody denies single parent households are a lot tougher for kids but again it’s not something you can put on the single parent themselves

If anything they should be applauded for taking on that uphill battle when they could have just tossed them into the adoption system much more easily

It doesn’t always start in the household. That’s a simple way of looking at a complex topic. I can raise my kids to have the upmost respect for everyone and to make the right decisions but after a certain point these kids grow and navigate through the world, meeting different people and picking up different personalities more times than not after gaining new friends. Kids are so easily influenced.

Societal forces? Let’s take one aspect of single parenthood: deadbeat parent. How in the world does that have to do with societal forces?😂😂😂😂. You’re making it seem like people can’t think for themselves when they can. It’s simple, don’t have kids if you can’t take care of them. So many issues would be eliminated

Ktt be acting like teens aren’t rebellious against adults and authority figures. You can’t control a shorty after a certain point. You can only coach them and pray they make the right decisions. Like what type of fantasy land do y’all live in where every parent have their teens in check by the snap of a finger.

You can put that on the deadbeat but not the parent who chooses to continue mothering or fathering the child is all that I was tryna say

And yes the fact that this happens so often is a result of larger societal issues. I agree it’s still f*** dead beats but that wasn’t the main point of what I was saying
