You’ll enjoy NYC because it’ll have options and luxuries Chicago won’t have

You’ll just have to pay more to enjoy them

The everyday side of you will appreciate Chicago, but for special experiences NYC offers a lot

What are these special experiences you speak of

Might have to be a bit more cautious being a brown dude in NYC during September, NYPD can be bigger d***heads than usual. But other than that it's pretty smoove.

    This is bs

    For one the food scene

Any possible ethnic cuisine is accessible in NYC at multiple budgets and varieties — every large city can have some diverse food culture but nothing touches the extent of NYC or London’s food offerings

I can have some as ambiguous as Uygher or Brazilian Pizza delivered to my door at 11pm and within 40 minutes living in a popular neighborhood

Chicago is amazing and I loved what I had from high to low end but for every great place in chi there’s 5 in NYC by sheer number

Great trip I just got back from

Great diversity of food and high end options that arent so expensive like NYC

Amazing building architecture, so much more distinctive than NYC

Way less hipsters and trendy yuppie’s kids

    Beautiful clean streets

L above ground system is A1 although it doesn’t run as expansive as MTA

Beautiful waterfronts, parks, and walkable bridges that more accessible than NYC

WAYYYY less of a homeless problem

Huuuuuge diversity of vibes that aren’t as so far spread out as NYCs different hoods

The wide streets and alleyways make the downtown areas feel way less crowded

Amazing city, I love NYC but man Chi is just as good as a city IMO

Nice post but third point not true in the slightest
No city in the world can compare in architecture and architectural diversity to NYC
But Chicago also has a lot of beautiful buildings, feel like people don't talk about it too much

Maybe by sheer size you’ll find more different styles in NYC but in Chicago the diversity is immediately noticeable and right in front of your eyes

It’s not like NYC where 90% of the city is dirty Art Deco mixed in with ugly super slim glass towers.

I don’t think I saw a single ugly building in Chicago’s downtown and nearly everything looked distinct from its surroundings

Baltimore has a much higher murder and crime rate than Chicago

yeah people tend to just look at the pure numbers and don't factor in population size. chicago is on pace to have over 650 murders this year and baltimore is on pace to have over 350, but chicago is 5x the size of baltimore, so baltimore has the higher murder rate per 100k residents. so does st. louis, memphis, detroit, philly, new orleans, DC etc. chicago actually isn't even top 20 in terms of murder rate. when you factor this and the fact that murders are uncommon in the loop where tourists are gonna spend 99% of their time, its reputation isn't fair.
