Me and Your Mama is my favorite song of his to this day and I feel like it got completely overshadowed by Redbone

me and your mama is a masterpiece
one of my fav intros ever
i'm so tired of the "Blonde influence" lmaooo, i swear it's whenever anyone drops an album someone brings that album up
This is me but with Yeezus. Not every damn synth heavy song by a rapper is “Yeezus influence”
Until someone drops an abrasive electronic punk rap album about the racial trappings of the fashion industry, then we can dead all those comparisons

That song is an out of body experience
It’s so hard to rank Gambino albums because they’re all so damn different from each other. Not in a Kanye or Kendrick way where there’s still a rap album at the foundation of every record, but each Gambino album literally sounds like it was made by a completely different artist.
Because the Internet and Bando Stone are definitely the most comparable, but even then Bando Stone is way more pop/alternative leaning than BTI ever was.
Which really makes me wonder why he felt like it was time to drop the moniker and (assumedly) make music moving forward as Donald Glover. It never felt like he was bound by any expectation or creative box as Gambino
Same 3 albums everytime lmao
Blonde, Yeezus and TLOP
Pretty sure all 3 have been brought up itt
DELIVER US.
I think you’re so tired of it that you’re unwilling to accept it when it actually applies
Ooooo. An interesting thought.
But trust me, if you provided better examples than "17 tracks, 1 hour, beat switch on the 9th track" I'd try to rock with you on that.

Not to mention, the albums that influenced those albums that influenced THOSE albums (etc.) aren't brought up. Like those few specific albums invented certain types of music/albums lol it's silly to me
I really doubt that Gambino meticulously planned for an album that doesn’t even sound like Blonde to match its’ specific runtime down to the minute
Run time is the same
Track number is the same
Album divided in two halfs perfectly with a beat switch on track 9
Summer is a main theme
Genre is pop (first Donald album with that)
Steps Beach sounds like Blonde
Just because they don’t sound the same and the Sonics and production are different doesn’t mean these are all coincidences lol. They’re not. It seems like he took cues from Blonde as far as presentation in general, more than sonics.
Donald specifically said he wanted this to be one of those summer albums that sticks with people and one album he cited was SOS, but it doesn’t take much reading between the lines to name Blonde as another one of those albums in recent memory that he could’ve been referencing.

Peep my recent post. I’ve given more examples than that
So waa there ever closure on Real Love? Who wrote what etc
Also curious about this
Peep my recent post. I’ve given more examples than that
the criteria is just a bit loose man, but i'm not gonna tell you you're wrong. it's entirely possible, sure
it just gets old lol

Just seems like too many things in common to be coincidence. And maybe people bring Yeezus and Blonde influence up a lot because they’re legitimately influential works lol
these are landmarks that changed the sound of music
There’s a beat switch halfway through too. And heavy summer themes. Also idk if y’all realize this but albums that clock in at exactly one hour are extremely rare
In that case, Frank Ocean's Blonde has that Daft Punk Discovery influence
That song is an out of body experience
I have a friend who put this s*** into his s***playlist in HS and to this day that information makes me feel fear
In that case, Frank Ocean's Blonde has that Daft Punk Discovery influence
Wrong. That’s 1 hour 1 minute. Plus stop ignoring all the other points. Discovery isn’t an album about summer divided in half by a beat switch

So 1 minute makes all the difference?

Okay.
If you showed someone these two albums and they had no knowledge of the runtime or specific track length or genre label on streaming, would that person really walk away thinking that Bando Stone was inspired by Blonde?
I like dadvocate a lot

Gambino has SO MANY songs with beat switches. You can't be f***in serious.
And heavy summer themes
Because the Internet, STN MTN/Kauai, 3.15.20/Atavista all out now
Also idk if y'all realize this but albums that clock in at exactly one hour are extremely rare
rateyourmusic.com/list/jross/albums-exactly-one-hour-long
Here's a list. And I'm positive that it doesn't even have all of them as it doesn't even mention Blond.
My god, you are genuinely f***ing stupid
So 1 minute makes all the difference?
He isn't a serious poster. I don't know why I just don't have bro blocked like other users on here who provide nothing of value to any discussion lol
