yep. what stupid hyperbole are you preparing
None are you trained in any ai program ?
people have no idea how much of a pain in the ass it is to make a really dope music video. takes months if not longer. and thats with a team of professionals. you still need to edit and perhaps do transitions/vfx with AI footage so its not like those people are all losing their jobs
as a musician that has both directed and edited his own music videos, all it takes is a little creativity and having just one or two niggas that believe in the vision and this weeks/months long process is not as daunting as people that have a shrine of lyrical lemonade in their bedroom wanna make it out to be tho
Some of the most iconic music videos of the last 2 decades aint cost that much money fam.
I'm positive this took just a few hours and didn't cost more than a hundo to make fam and yet this video became a goddamn template for an entire genre.

I don’t know how to use AI myself, but if so did I would try it out.
I understand why artist/people are speaking out against it.
It is becoming harder and harder to make a living as an artist because AI, and generic content libraries, are taking the bread feeding jobs that artist used to be able to support their more creative work with.
Fx, I live in a small country. Back in the day you could earn money to support your music art by making music for commercials and small TV shows, but now it’s almost always music from a generic music library that is being used because it is cheaper and easier.
Soon it will be made by AI.
It has f***ed up the ecosystem for artist
For what it’s worth many of the underground artist that I follow are using AI to create their videos
happy to say none of the ones im fw use that s***

ill agree that using AI is pretty lazy in general but it works a lot of the time so itd be kinda stupid not to use it
AI is for generating footage, not for editing existing footage or adding effects. i actually do want to make a AI software for doing video effects

You aren’t childish gambino no one has seen your s***
I honestly got nothing against AI in music videos. You can build crazy sets with it that wouldn’t be possible for most artists because of the limited budget they usually have
Show me some good ai vids cause everything is slop
KA (rest his soul) created his own videos and they looked whatever but those videos helped create a following.
The thing is, video making is only as daunting as you want it to be. You can work within the limitations of whatever budget you got (e.g. $0)
There is something to be said that some iconic works and visuals were made with limited resources (like the genre we all under rn)
But tech is improving at a constant rate and we here now. You can finally hypothetically make that music video with a floating titty that shoots fireballs and laserbeams while you rapping on the nipple.
Is it gonna resonanate as much with your audience or the people as much as say a one shot music video of a rapper eating a cockroach? (ask how much that video cost?)
the human element of unpredictability that AI will always lack is a ceiling that prevents generative AI works from achieving the sense of "reverence"

ive been trying to argue that technology isnt the enemy, but it is rly hard to argue that honestly, because technology has made a lot of aspects of business for artists way harder, with pirating and streaming etc.
I do think the economic system we are in will always make it harder for artists. its hard to really put a number on the value of art. by making it all the same level of accessibility it puts the onus on the listener to make wise listening choices, which rarely happens. a big part of the current issue is just people not fw new artists or artists that arent famous.
but back to the first point i think technology has destroyed many many industries, and created new ones, that trend is likely to continue, in the future there will be entirely different methods to doing s*** and people will always have to adapt
Let me reiterate I've mentioned earlier that AI itself is not the devil (however seeing the folks that created AI most likely then not fall into the demographic of said "devils"...that's another story) and as a dj I do use AI in regards to stem splitting to cook up acapellas.
This justifying of Childish Gambino's usage falls flat on its face cause the best music videos within the Atavista files were all non-AI (To Be Hunted for example. That video would've skyrocketed that song to hit status) so as fans, we are just confused as to why he had to use it at all, the best visuals was a product of quirky creativity (psilocybin and to be hunted) that AI itself cannot replicate.
I'd still share these views even if an artist I revered and looked up to decided to justify AI in art entirely to the point of writing an article about it because that's just how I was raised. My first experience in recording studios was a***og I aint even know about pro tools/electronics until I was already 10.
There are constructive and productive ways to implement AI into music that hell, I'd encourage to use. Take away artifacts off old samples so the quality can improve (everyone still gets credit), give a model/draft (as others ITT have mentioned) that you want someone to replicate, etc.
to fellow folks that also create within the realm of music
don't think it's wrong to say the critique of Childish Gambino is that these visuals fall underneath the latter.

that aint technology, that's capitalism and sometimes the venn diagram of the two is a circle but that's a whole nother beast lmao

Exactly, the problem is bigger than AI

I think a way around this is if people got a small amount of money to live for from the government “Citizen Pay”, so you could live a small and modest life/living and make your art.
I know allot of people would not like this, but if technology is so advanced and is crashing so many industries ecosystem, then set the people free and give them the opportunity to work with what they love.
Thinking ai is eliminating jobs is like acting like migrants are stealing your jobs
As someone in a job field that is being directly eliminated by AI, you are a moron lmao
Stick to your s***ty casino job and s*** you know like posting nonsense all day long
i am a professional artist and i literally do not give a f***.. simply because the coming bloodbath is going to impact all of society regardless to the industry they work in
once u realize that we’re all in this together, it becomes much more palatable
folks want musicians to spend thousands to millions of dollars on their visual identity that they will NEVER MAKE BACK
particularly when the margins are already so f***ed across streaming & touring
yes it’s legitimately f***ed for the visual artists who’ve become accustomed to a paycheck in Industry X
but it’s also unreasonable for the rest of the world / clientele to keep bleeding profusely when there are cost-saving alternatives
the problem is not the A.I. itself, but the slop created by tasteless individuals.. put the tools in the hands of legitimately creative people & the line between slop and true art blurs tremendously

Lmfao
Saying you’re an artist because you type prompts into an AI is hilarious man
Yeah like it’s nothing more gratifying than putting a pen to a pad (or fingers to an e-notepad) or seeing a crudely made drawing from your bedroom manifest into something beautiful in real life.
The human aspect of unpredictability AI can never fully replicate.
