50 came into the game talking typical street s***, and his music not changing/evolving as Hip-Hop's sound changed to autotune/etc is the main reason people said his career stalled.

As I said, when you are the top rapper is only when ppl care about that s***.

If you a B-tier rapper or not running s*** you can make the same music for 10 years straight and nobody says anything.

So then why did Wayne, TI, Gucci last ?

50 fell off because he picked wack beats (on top of the subconscious undertones of nerd rap beating street rap with the Grad sales battle) and started worrying about all types of other s*** besides music which ironically is what keeps him relevant now.

I remember thinking in real time it was over for him when he did that s*** with Eminem and Adam Levine lmao. It was way too late in the game for him to try that type of s***. All 50 needed was a few packs of Justice League/Harry Fraud/Alchemist beats and to hit the ground hard with the viral videos at the right down time between 2010-2012. He actually had a few dope joints I remember one with Kendrick but by then trap music had come out and was in full swing and he was just out of place.

on top of all that there was some s*** he talked about with Interscope not fw him once he started dealing with SMS audio as opposed to just endorsing Beats like everyone else on the label

Yes people only pretend to think Drake is boring because he’s successful and not because he went from making projects that were universally loved like SFG, TC, IYRTITL (during which he was also…successful? No pun intended) to CLB

    lol

TI and Wayne evolved to some decent degree, no?

TI went from Rubberband Man & You Don't Know Me to doing s*** like Dead & Gone and Live Your Life. Def an evolution, even if probably a negative one , but nonetheless he evolved with the times while he was reigning on top.

Wayne started doing s*** like How to Love while he was reigning. Also that Rock s***, but that was a dub and set his career back momentarily if anything. However How to Love was legit one of his biggest hits.

Gucci was absolutely never anywhere at the top hence him being able to make the same music for 18 years with no effect on his popularity or his place in Rap.

    I bought that 50/Em/Adam collab

The discussion was ppl only care about a rapper needing to evolve when he at the top of the game.

Ppl only care about that s*** with Drake, but all the B-tier rappers making the same s*** every other month for 4 years straight get away with it.

Ppl cared with 50 because he was at the top, you even just pointed out Gucci outlasted not changing s*** and that is because he was never anywhere near 50's level of reign.

TI, Wayne, etc also were pressured to evolve when they were running s*** as #1.

When you're #1 that's the only time it's pressure to evolve. Otherwise nobody gives a f***. Gambino woulda been fine doing that 2013-2015 s*** as his lane.

  • Oct 24, 2021

2013 Bino was artsy fartsy lol he literally made a concept art rap album and a script and a short film to accompany it he was positive he's making the new MBDTF

Pretty sure we the same generation lol.

Never saw him universally loved cus it aint no secret that there was always the bunch that never f***ed with the singing/poppier songs. Which is like 1/2 of a Drake album every time. Mostly the old heads.

  • Like maybe to hip-hop fans they were polarizing sure(?), but the nigga literally was a global superstar for the last ten years lol he got to that point by NOT making polarizing music.
