u acting like other rappers dont always do this when they make comparisons to legends outside of hip hop with their music

that was my initial point too, a lot of artists are going to correct you if you box them in the “rapper” label but it’s problem because it’s Post?

It is though?? Why would he feel the need to talk down on rap?? Saying hip hop doesn’t have the same lyrical depth as a Bob Dylan song isn’t factual since it is probably the kost lyrically dense genre. Why would he say that unless he was trying to demean rap?? He never heard a rap song before and started using racist old white guy talking points against it out the blue? Stop cappin for this white man.

again, he’s making a point about today’s rap scene lacking substance. He never said hip-hop as a whole lacks substance. You’re just understanding things how tou want to so that it fits your confirmation bias. Same way you somehow understood that he never listened to rap before.

you feel that way because he’s a white dude, plain & simple. You’re conviently ignoring the hundreds of non-white hip-hop artist that think or even stated they are above the “rapper” label

we’re just going to be rehashing our arguments at this point tho, what you said was that Post is racist which is what I disagree on

The current rap scene has tons of rappers with substance, and on top of that he’s one of the niggas without substance so again what is the point of him saying that?? Him being willfully ignorant that hip hop has depth and generalizing it to appease white people is corny af

And there are not hundreds of rappers who discredit being a rapper. There’s probably like 5 or 6 tops and they some goofies too. It’s not cause he’s white, YOU’RE likely white and feeling attacked by what I said cause you feel included

Claiming it isn’t as profound as Bob Dylan/Country music is virtually the same thing. Especially when he contributes to that lack of substance. It was some dumb ass make my white fanbases parents like me more PR bullshit

You’re not making valid points. You’re capping for this nigga with "oh he didn’t mean it like thaaaaat" talking points.

And yes I think he is. The new age type that takes advantage and pretends to be your friend. Same reason he was saying nigga with his white friends on the first page.

he said there are a handful of hip hop artists who have substance in their music

all he was really saying is he isn't emotionally moved by most hip hop.

You only have a problem with Post cuz hes white

Are you saying this same s*** for Lupe Fiasco?

"There's a lot of stuff in hip-hop I don't like," said the Chicago rapper. "If I don't do music and I just pick a genre to listen to, I'd listen to jazz."

    Kanye?

"I don't even listen to rap," he told DJ Semtex. "My apartment is too nice to listen to rap in. I have to be in a way more grimey environment to turn any rap music on."

    Tyler the creator?

"I don't really listen to rap, I just like to rap," he told SPIN. "So people were saying OF is like the new Wu-Tang. No we're not! I don't even f***ing listen to Wu-Tang. I want be compared to s*** I listen to."

    Lil B?

"I've taken rap 100 percent seriously for so long, that I see it now, it's a joke to me because a lot of the rap artists that are in it, they're not truly authentic."

    2chainz?

"For me, on my off time, I never listen to rap. I can see why people don't even like rap,"

I can keep going man. You talking about how Post doesnt respect the genre but it seems a lot of the biggest rappers dont even respect this genre.

When he claimed he didn’t make rap music even though he rapped to appease his white audience it rubbed me the wrong way. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was

Show me exactly where he was rapping?

He’s always been a singer and a pop artist more than anything else. Sure his production has been heavily influenced by rap but so has current day Ariana grande. Nobody really calling her a rapper.

Because he was using it to degrade a style he completely emulates and profits off of in an attempt to appease his growing white fanbase once it started to be larger than the black people who helped put him on. It wasn’t some innocent thing he was directly demeaning hip hop as a lower class form of art

This right here. People just don’t seem to get it.
