I had a friend who went over there for a couple months and said s*** wasn’t like you would expect it to be, only thing that was different from him was being monitored (apparently) and he lost a bunch of weight.
Yeah, I enjoyed it a lot, but I stayed in Hong Kong and Shanghai, so two extremely westernized, modern cities.
We traveled to more remote areas, but never more than day trips, so I can’t really speak on how life is out there. You could tell that in some cities, people probably hadn’t seen a white person before. Random people would be coming up asking to take a selfie and s*** lmao. I was on some X**** leftover from the flight and drunk on some rice liquor at this temple and some motherfucker is trying to hand me their baby for a photo

China sucking and China occasionally doing good things are not mutually exclusive possibilities
The US sucks but it does good stuff sometimes too, every country does. Encouraging kids to prioritize academics over gaming is objectively a good thing, I wish the US would do something similar tbh. If y'all in grade school you need to be immersed in learning and building real life relationships.
