True but it is a public service, not an arm of the state. It has to be impartial politically so doesn’t represent or broadcast the views of the incumbent government - this doesn’t seem to be the case with mainstream media in China

There are various degrees to which state affiliated media may be controlled by state officials, but to outright deny state affiliation because of how you perceive that degree of control is misinformation.

It’s not my perception though, it’s literally part of the BBC’s written charter that they remain politically impartial in all broadcast material and news.

I’d argue that it’s actually misinformation to try and act like the BBC is akin to a propaganda arm of the Government, as is sometimes the case with state media in other countries.

While i don’t necessarily agree with this POV, it’s fairly common consensus amongst supporters of our current government that the BBC is actually biased AGAINST them - too liberal, left wing etc

The fact that the Chinese propaganda doesn’t even have to stretch the truth much is all you need to know about our leadership right now
