How it goes, businesses will never eat the costs, that's the thing with these wage hikes. While I agree, it's complicating

yeah i feel you, it’s definitely complicated. on one side, i do understand the decision, because as a business your sole goal is profits, but from a consumer end it’s annoying lol

OP sucks at reporting just like cnbc

this isnt cause of wages going up, this is because of greedy ceos who wont cut their own inflated salaries

Maybe... the govt... should make laws saying... Companies shouldn’t raise prices when the CEOS... make 100x times what the workers are getting PAID

as the consumer you also have the choice not to go to chipotle, so chipotle may have a decrease in sales due to their choice to hike the prices rather than eating the costs. It's just business, they did the math, found that they'd make more by hiking it than eating it, and if it doesn't work out, sucks for them

i have no interest in going to chipotle

  • Jun 10, 2021

that's fine bc Moe's or Qdoba > Chipotle anyways

Tried it for the first time like a week ago, is aite, but y’all really out here saying “guac”?

What’s so hard about saying Guacamole, they was lookin at me all confused for a second, just go to a real Mexican restaurant yall

  • Jun 10, 2021

i also found chipotle to be very inconsistent, if i went to different locations the quality would vary way too much it started to get to a point where i would go to specific one and not the one near me, qdoba better anyways

“Chipotle Mexican Grill CEO Brian Niccol took home $38 million in 2020 — up from $33.5 million in 2019 — with a base salary of $1.24 million up from $1.20 million in 2019, according to the Newport Beach, Calif.-based company’s proxy statement released on Monday.

The significant salary — the most Niccol has made since he was hired in 2018 and made up of mostly long-term incentives (69%) and an annual bonus (22%) — was set to be just $14.8 million but financial targets were waived in light of the company’s stellar performance during the pandemic. According to the proxy report, Niccol made 2,898 times more than the median Chipotle worker’s salary of $13,127, as defined by "an hourly part-time employee who works roughly 25 hours per week at one of their restaurants in Illinois."”

I definitely think all workers deserve a living wage. I think it’s kind of scummy that Chipotle made customer cover the cost though...

This is what a lot of people against raising wages were talking about so I’m sure this will only give them more fuel

this happens all the time though. this is pretty much the inverse of what happens when you have things like credit card rewards that give discounts and other free s***. somebody gotta foot the bill

yep lol the irony of the people quoting that

to be fair, i posted it in the thread before i added it to the op. so the first poster said that before they saw my post.

but everyone who quoted it after must not have even read the OP because it’s been in there basically the whole time

oh yeah i get the logic behind it, it’s just wild the CEO openly said “ahh we raised wages, the customer is footing the bill” lol
