I still don't see how working for Disney is selling out It's obvious she isn't making any real drastic changes by this thread to her image to appease shareholders going by this thread nor is her working for a seperate company like Universal or even A24 is going to change that problem either This all boils down to "ethical consumption" which is damn near impossible under capitalism, so if she's not "selling out" by working with Disney, she would be for working a subsidary of SME who does the equivalent in the music world and if she went independent she'd still have to put her music on Spotify and other dsps who are heavily invested by labels and used progressively to cater to themselves and cut out independent artists and labels on top of their other shady business dealings

Since the 90s quite frankly they have found ways to get lazy with copying their animated movie formula onto every story they did and it worked out pretty well but at the time the industry believed in actually putting effort in their movies so eventually their animated movie gimmick started to fail and they started to actually try (and mostly fail spectacularly since they’re hacks) for a while until Feige cracked gold with the soulless lazy MCU that started off the whole cinematic universe gimmick and now every major studio is copying them and making lazy ass art

So yes, many major studios make trash art now too, but it’s all because Disney made that model successful and they’re copying it to survive because Disney’s shady ass theater and media practices have also allowed them to force feed their sewage content on top of everything else, forcibly making them the standard
