There is definitely references to Hell in the bible, usually talking about fire for eternity. Gehenna was a real place but just used as an example of Hell. Bible also uses the word Hades in a similar way

That's why I was asking, the article I linked earlier said something similar. Jesus referenced Gehenna, but that was possibly a metaphor to explain to the people he was preaching to what hell would be like. And I'm not too sure about the references to Hades. Apparently that's an afterlife where all people who die before judgment go, there's a good side and a bad side. Jesus went to the good side after he was crucified

But Jesus also referenced a place where there's crying and gnashing of teeth. It would be better to cut off your hand and let it burn there rather than let your entire soul burn. Not too sure what the disciples wrote at these verses, was it Gehenna or Hades?
