hello all, today my family received horrible news about my grandma. my last living grandma on this earth. i was wondering, can you all pray for my grandma, my dad (her son) and all of my family? im on my knees, praying for gods mercy but i fear that our lives will forever change in the coming weeks/months and year.
thank you .
Wake up, O human being! For it was for you that God was made man. Rise up and realize it was all for you. Eternal death would have awaited you had He not been born in time. Never would you be freed from your sinful flesh had He not taken to Himself the likeness of sinful flesh. Everlasting would be your misery had He not performed this act of mercy. You would not have come to life again had He not come to die your death. You would have perished had He not come. – St. Augustine
some crazy s*** happened to me
i slipped up and got into some p***
then i went to the shrine to find a catholic priest.
nobody was around
except my one friend but he's not a priest he's a brother
so i sat at these giant statues of the crucifixion scene
and i prayed to jesus to forgive my sins
i get home and im f***ed up
then out of nowhere
this polish priest i had been trying to get ahold of
called me up and told me to meet him tomorrow night before the midnight christmas mass. he'll give me a confession.
that's god.
thank you jesus christ

Prot here, can you explain confession from a catholic perspective?
ADONAI we pray for temperance and self control going into this new year. Excellence in all ways.

Basically, you meet in a private space with the priest, go through some prayers/routine stuff first, then you confess your sins. It's on you to be as honest and thorough as you can. Once you're done, priest gives you your penance, which is a number of various prayers to pray (how many you get depends on the severity of your sins) after you leave.
Also, you have the option of doing your confession face to face or behind a screen (to make it easier/less awkward for you).
Im so conflicted with Christianity right now.
Not with my belief in God/Christ. That will never change. Ive said this multiple times but i've been through too much and experienced too much with my faith and prayer to ever deny the existence of God, angels, etc. My faith is solid in that regard.
I just have a hard time identifying with Christianity specifically now. Granted im no saint, and i'm not the most well versed person on religion, but what i've seen in the last 4 years from people who claim to be Christians is not the type of Christianity I was raised on. I was taught that God is a loving God, a fair God. I was taught to try my best to live life like Christ and do as he would do. I feel as if that belief system contributes to a lot of my empath traits. But when I look at what other Christians are today. How hateful a lot of them are, the rhetoric, the selfishness. It doesn't seem anything like Christianity I grew up with. I know the bible says that false prophets and people who claim to be of God will surface and not to be fooled. But being honest I dont know how much I trust the bible either. Like so many conflicting things in it and I realize the Bible was written by man and has prbably been modified for selfish reason. Idk im just confused and thinking about a lot. Im at war with myself mentally.

Hey man first of all happy New Years to you! And I want to let you know that the Bible is true and each of those authors God chose them to document what was going on. And further proof is when we discovered the Dead Sea scrolls. The Bible may have missing books (66) but doing my research on it that’s probably the only “mystery” with the Bible. Sure they’re 1000 of Bible’s and what not. But none are reworded. They’re all translations if anything. All same meaning in its context. I would recommend getting a Hebrew Bible if you want the most accurate sentences within it. The only selfish reason “man” has done with the Bible is take it out of context for slavery. Whitewashed the faith with imagery. Cause debates and confusion because people want to combine their OWN ideas with the Bible to satisfy their flesh. And paganism. Moral of the story is the Bible speaks on how man will run off to their own beliefs. Also as you mentioned of people calling themselves Christian but not having the actions that match it, those are common and those aren’t genuine Christians. The best we can do is pray and hope that if they truly are a follower of our father and savior that they find him and start acting accordingly. People will cause themselves a Christian but understand that title means nothing if your actions do not match up with the word of God. The best example of this is our slave owners calling themselves Christians but taking the Bible out of context for their own good to control us. That’s not what God intended or what the Bible teaches. Those guys weren’t “Christians”
I’m praying that Jesus shows you to continue to believe and trust in him and not be fooled or mislead or distracted by false Christians or anything that isn’t of him and to remain focused. Blessing to you brother

YIKES. How did I manage to find pagan celebrations in a Christianity thread?
Do better than that yall. YHWH warned us against the celebrations of traditions of man in the scripture.

Yikes. If anyone speaks out against paganism it’s me. I could go all day with the exposes of the Europeans and the history of pagans. Was just being friendly to certain Christians who where saying it in here. I could explain more if you want. For educational purposes
May all of you have a blessed year. Even though a lot of people feel like 2020 was the worst year in recent times due to the pandemic and all of its effects, God did provide for me my family in 2020. After almost 14 years of me and my family not having a stable place to live, moving from hotel to hotel and temporary housings, God provided us with not one, but three new apartments. One for my sister, one for my other sister and her boyfriend, and finally one for my mom (whom I live with along with my youngest sister).
On Monday we will get the keys to our very own apartment, signed in our own names, after so many years of uncertain living conditions. It’s like 5 minutes of walking distance to my mom’s job, and it’s a relatively new apartment that that was built 2015/2016, and I’m a sucker for new apartments. Always admiring them from a distance. Didn’t imagine I’d get to live in one so soon though.
My mom applied for the apartment as we’ve done for many other apartments for many years. I didn’t actually think we’d get it to be honest, but the real estate agent contacted us a few days or weeks later and wanted more info because we were now first in line, against all odds. I prayed to God, sent my mom a Bible verse (Mark 11:24) - 5 minutes after I send her this verse she texts me that she got a call from the real estate agent and that we got the apartment.
2020 been weird and hard for many of us but there’s still light in the darkness and God shined some of that light on me and my family in the midst of this pandemic. If God got us then we gon be alright! 🔥🙏🏽
