This is the one thing that keeps putting doubt in my mind

Bruh this video is so stupid lmao. Think about it like this. If you have belief in God, why would it matter if we were the only civilization? God can create more than one world. Another important point is she’s assuming aliens are real because of what the secular perspective of the universe tells us. From this perspective, it would only make sense for aliens to 100% exist. But if you believe in God, the idea that he would create a universe in which our species could develop without creating any other intelligent life isn’t that crazy. So her whole argument is invalid. She has a severe lack of perspective which is frustrating to watch. It’s highly depressing that so many human beings liked that tik tok without realizing why her logic doesn’t make sense. Just shows how a lot of people criticize religion without a good understanding of theology and religion itself.

The reasoning behind it ain't stupid. The girl's approach to the subject is quite stupid though. If intelligent alien life (in some shape or form) does exist, and there is a high probability that it does, their views and beliefs would be drastically different than ours. We have different religions on Earth (monotheistic and polytheistic) and one could argue that the God which they believe in is in fact the creator of the entire universe. So you can personally believe that God is responsible in the creation of alien life but I personally doubt and challenge that. We have to be open to the idea that intelligent alien life would hold different beliefs than ours, just as many others on Earth do (e.g. Hindus, Buddhists, etc). That's where my belief in God sorta starts to falter.

I’m trying to to think of the best way to explain this. I don’t want to call the reasoning stupid because it’s a very common argument that is made by smart people, but I don’t see the reason that aliens believing something different than us would alter someone’s faith more than an uncontacted tribe believing something different. Also, saying there is a high likelihood that aliens exist is making the assumption that life develops, possibly with no purpose. This assumption makes sense through a worldview that assumes God doesn’t exist, but through a worldview where he does, it would be incorrect to assume aliens are real. I’ll explain this in a valid argument. Premise one: if God exists then life develops for a reason and is intentional. Premise two: since life develops for a purpose, unless we know of a purpose, we cannot assume the existence of aliens. Conclusion: therefore if God exists, aliens only would exist for a purpose.

God himself told his archangels: “You do not know what I know”.

To assume we’re the only intelligent life in the universe is in fact a sin, as we’re assuming that we know ALL of what God’s created - when he specifically said the above.

So, if you’re a Jew/Christian/Muslim, or a follower of another Abrahamic faith - you can not disregard the unknown, as per God’s statement.

Fair points. Thank you for being cool and providing another perspective. I guess it all boils down to faith in the end. Those secure in their faith should be open to the idea that intelligent life does exist and that it exists for a purpose, ie. the Abrahamic God was responsible for the creation of life and its design not only on Earth, but everywhere in the universe. I have Catholic family members that think like this. Personally (because I lack faith), I cannot necessarily agree with that reasoning. I'd much rather entertain the idea that the universe was created for a purpose, by a higher being (being God or whatever religious/spiritual figure it may be) because the sheer stubbornness in the belief that only my religion's 'god' is the one and true god really turns me off of religion in general. That's where I would feel that the existence of intelligent alien life would shatter my entire worldview - they'd likely be so different from us (or maybe not so much - it's all made-up scenarios in the end). Nonetheless, more power to you and those that have strong faith. Like the Bible teaches and constantly re-affirms, one can believe in the Father, the one and true God, and his role in the creation of life on Earth (and the universe). There are valid points from both sides of the argument imo.

This is pretty much where I am now as well. I know he's real but I realised he doesn't favour me / care. Or at least, the abrahamic god. I've now turned to philosophy to try to make sense of the world

  • It must feel good being Kanye where God (YHVH) blesses you left and right. But not everyone is chosen like that

for me its not about favour or care.
i think god favors everybody seriously. (I do feel like that sometimes about everybody).

i just realized that it's really on me no matter what and that's the only person i hold accountable. 💯. which seems like a walking contradiction for faith.

If there's any black ppl in this thread y'all should leave.

Christianity killed more of our ppl than anything.

Look up the Council of Nicaea to see when and why they created jesus

And don't forget about the knights templar, they were diplomatic ppl who didn't impose their beliefs on ppl who had their own

I doubt that someone that tries to force his beliefs on his brothers really wants what's best for them

letting the ones you love be free is true kindness and that's what our God is

You're the only truly deifying yourself within your savior because you lack perspective.

Yes, I am crass and blunt. You trying to disparage my words because of your comfortability is disrespectful to the ones who are oppressed by the faith you praise. I never said my way is better, just that the way of Christ is to murder my people.

idk yet. Honestly, I'm a dude from Detroit who came from nothing and started to read. My entire family was in the church since I was a kid but I seen different preachers, pastors, deacons whoever you want to pick not help anyone in a substantial way. Not to say they had ill intentions, but rather they were not equipped to handle their duties. I watched each week as the ppl proclaim their faiths, truths, struggles, and all that was offered was thought. I understand ppl view prayer as a mystic system as your needs will be heard from your higher power but in actuality you're submitting yourself to powers that are greater than you that you don't understand.

If you cannot predict God's intention why would you trust his intuition?

I'm leaning more towards animism because I can see myself in all things. respect should be unilateral and nature should be protected. The style in which I speak is impactful because it's an amalgamation of what I've compiled from my community. No one can tell us our humanity is inhumane, neither can they say we're wild and reckless. The way we're allowed to be treated breeds discontent and overall impatience, which is understandable due to the trials. I say that to say that forms of expression is suppressed in these Abrahamic religions because they come from a diluted, b******ized version of what the real was actually like.

Consider the bible like if white ppl wrote Boyz n da Hood

You are misguided and misled. I hope you seek to find truth because you are blinded by faith.

The disingenuousness you've shown is reflective of your faith. Trying to demean my existence is the spine of your religion. I let you know an experience that I and others of my community has/had and you replied with "it's fine for me." Even as descendants we suffer the same perils as our predecessors, why? Whom is beyond reproach? Why don't you know or empathize with the struggles of your fellow "humans"? Why are there 3rd world countries when we have enough methods and materials to build a self-sustaining society?

    Safe travels

You don't and it's cool because you don't have the capacity to understand what I'm speaking to. And that's ok, there is always work to be done.

But to assist you on your journey, I don't speak from the vantage point of opinion. That's ego, opinions are useless as everyone has one and no one is better than the other. I speak from the universal laws, the things neither you nor I can affect.
