Nothing about Nolan's s*** is artsy LMAO, most of his movies literally look the same and have that "realistic look" which is the opposite of Kanye. Nolan's just a try hard who tries to make forced "impressive" looking s*** just for the sake of it ala Drake
There are literally no movies coming out today that are anything like Nolans films. Dunkirk and BR2049 were easily the most artsy blockbusters made in 2017. Also, most directors have very consistent aesthetics in their films. All of Fincher and QTs movies look and feel the same as well, even moreso than Nolan.
u deleted that list quick
panos cosmatos is a hack
I still got him on the list though, Cosmatos is literally one of the greats of our time.
I guess you just prefer stuff that is easier for you little brain to understand like papa Nolan does for you

Cosmatos films are literally the definition of style over substance lmao. Mandy is a super straight forward revenge movie that is given an extra hour of "trippy" visuals to try to impress us. He is a hack like Refn. Nolan's films are far more complex and substantial than Cosmatos. P sure the latest Jumanji is too lmao.
Wow there are some serious steaming hot s*** takes in this thread
Ranging from Nolan is garbage trash to Nolan is the greatest director of all time
Interstellar and Dunkirk > any of QT's movies
Finchers best movies are Zodiac, Gone Girl, TSN, Dragon Tattoo, and The Game
Benjamin Button s***s on Fight Club also. Fight Club is like Batman Begins tier.
Holy f***ing s*** at thinking Dunkirk>any QT movie
eh I would say Interstellar to Dunkirk is a pretty drastic change up for a director. Even Inception being executed like a hollywood blockbuster 2 hour action movie to a more personal, quieter, and less structurally conventional film in Interstellar to go to a nearly dialogue free, music driven 1.5 hour war film that is edited very unconventionally definitely shows versatility. Yeah, I do agree that it isn't as versatile as like a PTA or even Scorsese, but I wouldn't say he doesn't change his style at all.
not wrong, but there are a lot of similar themes explored in them even though the genre or setpiece is changed. he's been harping on time for too long now, and that's the only reason i am a bit worried about Tenet. It just seems like a derivative of inception.

I think it ends up working out because his exploration on time isn't of trying to add a new explanation of it in each film, but to rather visualize how it can be used in the medium of cinema and he does it differently every time up to now.

Dunkirk is amazingly made.

Literally every single Nolan film has that serious realistic tone including tenet. PTA changes his aesthetics all the time and so does QT you can't tell me OUATIH looks like H8 or DJANGO or IB etc.
I’d much rather watch Dunkirk than a Tarantino film, Tarantino doesn’t even use original music every Tarantino film I’ve seen has been the exact same, 2 hours of completely random stuff that’s boring and then a final 30-40 minutes that’s outlandish and funny. I can sit through an entire Nolan or Villeneuve film, but a Tarantino film I’d just skip to the last act
ok and?
QTs movies jus aint on that level. He is a great writer of dialogue and character quirks but he is abysmal when it comes to creating a sense of emotional connection to his characters. I do love some of his films, but he has never come even close to creating emotion on the scale of a Dunkirk or Interstellar or frankly many of Nolan's movies (but I will say Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, Hollywood, and IB are better than most of Nolans other movies due to other things they do so well)

you chalk that up to artistic vision though. Maybe he does not want us to become attached to the characters because most times they are scum bags. also in resevoir dogs, django, even hateful8, there were characters I became emotionally connected to.

whats wrong with a serious realistic tone? Atleast Nolan does something different with his blockbusters by using that tone. And OUAITH vs Django is about as big a gap in visual aesthetic as Dunkirk and Inception so.
Did he just say QT has never come even close to creating emotion on the scale of a Dunkirk or Interstellar
F***ing DUNKIRK my sides are hurting from laughter lmaooo

I can't say I ever gave a s*** about any character in a QT film. I wanted everyone in H8 to die tbh. The best things about his characters are usually their quirks, their performances, and the dialogue they get to deliver. I think the closest QT ever got to emotion was the opening 10 minutes of IB.

interstellar had unreal emotions.

nothing wrong with it, he's just one dimensional tone wise, so don't compare him to Kanye
