I'd hardly call this divisive lol. That implies people have strong opinions about it in two opposite, extreme ways -- that isn't the case here. You have people praising this a lot and people just shrugging at it, thinking it's "meh".

yeah its no where what happened with something like Interstellar where there actually were straight up negative reviews

Nobody has really called this flat out bad, it seems to mostly be a divide between people that think its either meh or good with some people who think its great.

though im sure we will see some actual negative reviews once more snobby publications like Slant Magazine or New Yorker review it

All elements mesh very well together, action is excellent with multiple noteworthy scenes and I even thought the comedy was surprisingly well-toned (compared to that review whom expected it to be some grand comedy).

The scenery and overall set works is really dope and especially when considering how few VFX shots used in this movie. Kinda easy to glimpse over everything that goes on in the movie since you're captivated by everything happening but when breaking down each component, it's clear to see why this movie is so ambitious.

Yeah, and honestly, this has led me to lower expectations, which may be a positive for Nolan and everyone involved as well. If this was a normal year, I'd really want something mind-blowing and legendary. But if he's able to deliver an enjoyable spectacle, that's enough for me.

How can you not know what's going on in the film, yet give it a proper rating?

As an American, this gotta be the strangest release for a movie of my lifetime. Us being the last to see this is comical

i was a bit confused at the beginning, the editing felt really choppy and there were transitions super often

but once it clicks, it f***ing clicks hard

the practical effects work to put some of this crazy s*** together especially towards the last big sequence must've been infernal
