Assuming impressions are dropping this afternoon?

I think it was simply that critics will be watching today but the embargo won’t be lifted

Seems kinda weird to show it so far in advance if impressions are dropping soon though.

Think it’s to give critics time to process things. The timing is all based on marketing. No point in everyone saying this movie is amazing when we’re still like 4 weeks out. I imagine first week of July will be when they can tweet and then the week of we will see reviews and tv spots

That movie made me cry and I didn’t even realize why

Third act of Rises was insane too on a set piece action level. All practical effects and just a sand box of tanks, batmobiles, bat wings just blowing s*** up

  • who knew that joel hale osteen would have bad takes

What movies did you watch as inspiration?

NOLAN: Tarkovsky’s “Andrei Rublev” 1966 made quite an impression on everybody — the textures are pretty remarkable. One of the films I screened as a bit of a flier, like I didn’t really know whether it would be relevant, was Kurosawa’s “Ran” 1985. It’s shot very differently, but there’s this relationship between the environment and the wind. Now that I look at our finished film, I think it was a huge influence.

Kurosawa heads, we're so f***ing back

The review embargo lifts July 15

I think hopefully we get the social media reactions after the July 7 premier

It’ll just be from the film critics, not the influencers

After everything I heard about how grueling the shoot for this was and the ambition clearly on display, the thought of it ending up mid would be pretty devastating ngl.

Every Nolan film honestly feels like that because the hype is always insane. I definitely had that fear with Oppenheimer due to the embargo being lifted close to release and then it wound up being a masterpiece.

I feel like it's inevitable that there's some conflicting mindsets because of how Internet-brained everyone is.

They're using a legit thousand year old ship on this movie to make it realistic and tangible and people are legit getting mad that the ship "isn't accurate to ancient Greek" and ignoring the fact that they're doing the most ambitious thing they could possibly do.

It's gonna be ambitious and impressive even if it's "mid". Even if it ends up not being as good as Nolan's other stuff, he's legit the only person who could even make this right now.
