oh f*** yeah
Some s*** in this movie really caught me off guard he went out of his zone quite a bit
I think hes really growing into a new style probably since dunkirk honestly but this one and oppenheimer really nail it and if he keeps going hard like this i think we'll get some insane movies from him still
Is it really that noticeable
Yeah you won't be able to see the full image as he intended it to be viewed as it won't fit on regular screens. To most they won't really notice though.
Just left the theater
Need to process this one a bit
Very veryyyy good
another person seeing it before me

Maybe making a movie that can only be seen "properly" in like 40 theaters in the world isnt really a great call

I agree to be honest but the experience is amazing.
Watching Oppenheimer on 70mm was fire

Yeah ive never seen any movie in those formats tbh but im sure its great, just wish it was more widespread
Is it really that noticeable
not really. it's about screen size and image quality. 70mm IMAX (which is different than standard 70mm and standard IMAX) allows for the biggest screen without the image compression/stretching that would normally occur. It's awesome.
But it's not like you notice the 16K resolution, you're just looking at it the same way you would at home, it's just 70 feet tall with no image quality loss.
It's still best to see it that way if it's possible to of course. But it's not this revolutionary thing. I'm just lucky because I have 3 IMAX screens of that sort within a 3 hour drive from me.

Yeah fair, I mean I'm lucky as there's only 3 70mm cinemas in the UK and 2 are in London.

I still am shook by the random scream at the beginning of the gymnasium scene in oppy
thought it was someone in my theater

The image is cropped to fit the 35mm screen, if you care about that at all but on a first watch it's not a big deal

damn I'm so hyped, gotta wait a bit but it'll be worth it
I either need to take time off work for a morning showing or I’m going at 1:30am to see on 70mm. Every normal night show is sold out
