Nah that's Nolan's most emotional film by far. First time I watched it on a s***ty laptop and it didn't connect with me but second time I watched it I had more life experiences and that McConaughey scene hit me hard

What does overhype have to do with the movie

this is really the archetypal Nolan movie & crazy that he adapted a form of classic literature to do it. The Calypso island parts remind me of Memento, a man trying to tell himself the story of himself partially via a substitute love object & the creeping almost unbearable horror that you mutilated everything you hold dear, so horrible you are content to sit on an island for 7 years in an affair & forget everything

Haha yeah, but it heavily depends on what article tbh. Anything front page might have an even worse comment section than something like the daily mail. If the article is about Trump it’s literally 100’s of 50 year old ‘blokes’ making unironic ‘orange man bad’ comments lol. And it’s the same dumb s*** for UK politics, tech stocks, or the Ukraine war.

However, under more technical, in-depth or niche articles you sometimes have mfers with real industry knowledge writing 1000 word comments with citations and all that are like ten times better than the actual article lol, just because these guys know way more about the subject. Like I’m sometimes genuinely astonished by how good/informative they are. Sad thing is is that they often are like one of three people commenting, so nobody reads that s***

It's pretty clearly the run from Prestige to TDK to Inception. Those are the movies that made Nolan who he is.

I've only ever heard the people who were like 14 when Interstellar came out say that. I think most people who've seen Contact and 2001 and such recognize Inception as a more more idiosyncratic science fiction offering. Same goes for a biopic, a war movie, an adaptation of a classic. That doesn't match the vitality of his breakout hits. Not on paper, not on screen, not contextually.

And he wouldn't be the product of Batman hype. He revitalized the property. The last Batman movie before he started making them was a disaster. The superhero genre wasn't even ascendant yet.
