the only reply on the post is you and the source is festival sahara

democracy now is widely known in the usa not festival sahara

  • HaroldsChicken

I would say if its not widely reported on and I am the one to post the democracy now its invertedly then at a certain level its there is no fully moral consumption. If I look at many of these movie companies, financiers . Saudis buying into game industry. Zionist throughout all industries. Is there a movie , game or music you can consume and not have some fear of misconduct or creators supporting something you dont support. Whether through casted actors, writers, directors, companies above? I would say its tough. I can critique that Nolan filmed in that area while also enjoying the contents of the film itself. The uppity "how can you say free palestine yet watch Odyssey " Is just so inherently stupid to me that I have to say something.

yea ur right wat was i thinking

and nobody was debating about democracy now being more well known; not the point

the main controversy people knew about this movie was elon and anti woke people on the internet because that is what we were being fed in America.

In my post I said "wow I didnt know there were other boycotts of this going on "

I dont deeply follow every controversy a movie or piece of art has

I am saying the general idea of critiquing people for not knowing about it or going to see the movie is flawed in itself. By that same logic why engage with anything oppressing nations do. Wny watch the world cup when oppressors are let in? Engage with any media created by oppressors and those who fund them even if they do film in ethical locations. At what point does it stop ?

    This is a genuine question

At what point do you accept that its genuinely impossible in many ways to boycott every single thing you dont support

google uses ai youtube idf ads amazon supports ice the list goes on and on and on. At a certain point the system itself is flawed. Again Nolan should have filmed in a better location but probably got a good deal from Morocco for someone elses land or area. How do we cope with that or not and still see the movie?

are you ever going to see the movie?

lil too late for genuine questions but ok

nothing is 'impossible'. think its pretty standard to abstain from watching the world cup (if ur not a fan/find the game to geopolitically rigged) or at the very least pirate access to it. either one still counts as 'engage'ment, even if its not direct material support. there are other search engines that don't rely on google's index, vendors you can buy directly from instead of amazon.. yes there's no ethicalyadayada under yadayada.

i was planning on watching the movie in theaters. but came across this sahara issue months ago and changed my mind. maybe in years time i'll come across it. but that doesnt mean in this moment i have to pay and staunchly defend a filmmaker who knows better by playing devil's advocate just because i wanted to see some of my favorite actors play dress up.

Thats fair and I get that. I just dont know if I get being in the thread for those who choose to watch it. If I really dont f*** with something I wont even f*** with discussion of it at a certain level because whats the point. No one in here is going to see that democracy now and cancel their tickets or say "I wont watch it further in any form"

if i managed to cancel my plans, then i believe it could make someone else second guess doing so too. which is why i shared the article and liked the fact that you shared the DN video. it's up to them. and yes - while i was definitely on a dumb ass high horse, id rather prod the bear in people's minds by pointing out hypocrisy/lack of conscientious follow through than have them support nolan rn

All fair I guess. I didnt know before I saw the movie but got to say I would see it if I had known at this point. The quality of the art doesnt justify where it was filmed but I can accept that it was done that way for this content. I can take the bad and rather than no good come of it recongnize art sometimes comes from conflicting places

I’m trying to see this in iMax dual laser GT so I can still get the full picture frame, but it doesn’t seem to be that that’s an option anywhere near me unless I drive an hr to Universal Citywalk. 70mm IMAX Irvine is sold out for a couple more weeks in good seats.

Anybody seen it in the 1.90 to 1 ratio? I’m considering it if I can find a ticket for my girlfriend and I today

    Goddamn

They’re gonna live in their own reality about this movie being a flop then Nolan is gonna get handed another $250M budget and they’re gonna act like it never happened
