You're right, but they're referring to this article which says "the lead". They literally just mean the first thing though. People taking single words now as "scoops"

Tom and Damon are the two leads. Deadline said that in their og report about it. Jumping to assume Holland is the top lead off the way a literal article (article as in word, not article as in journalism) is used is just pointless.

Too many fake "updates" and scoops about this movie man. Certain speculation is fine but running with any kind of speculation as fact is nuts.
