Nolan made Harry Styles work and people are worried about Holland. I swear people judge performances on how much they liked or disliked a movie vs the quality of acting someone is giving

Dude has a history of casting mainstream/upcoming heart throbs that turn in great performances.
Heath Ledger, Harry Styles, Barry Keoghan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Timothee Chalamet, Robert Pattinson, etc.

Lol what
Lol what
Ledger, Styles, Pattinson, etc. were all cast prior to really proving themselves as actors in mainstream circles and got made fun of prior to the films' release.
And the others like DiCaprio and even like Christian Bale to a certain degree have had a strong following of being a female heart throb which Nolan helped redirect (not solely obviously).

None of these compare well to Tom.
Ledger acted and led films long before TDK where he showed phenomenal range. Pattinson had made his dramatic turn a half decade before Tenet to pretty great critical success, and DiCaprio is DiCaprio. To credit Nolan, even a little bit, with helping Leo shed his heartthrob skin is silly, he had already shed it long before (and even then, it isn't as if heartthrob Leo didn't put forth a number of great performances.) You honestly make a better point with Bale... slightly.
Barry wasn't a heartthrob at the time of Dunkirk, he was a relative unknown to most audiences, and it was also Harry's first major acting gig. Harry has been decent after the fact, and Barry has been very good.
In comparison to those names, Tom's problem isn't a lack of acting experience or a heartthrob reputation that people can't look past, it's that he has absolutely sucked in everything that isn't Spider-Man.
I'm not saying Nolan can't bring it out of him, but I wouldn't look at those cases as evidence that he can.
Second tweet I’ve seen about this

I stand firm on that Tom hasn't sucked in the non Spidey movies, it's that the films themselves sucked.
Like I think he was great in Cherry but the film was ass, same with Devil All The Time (which I kind of like)

Fair point. It’s not like he’s stood out as bad in things that have otherwise been great. I should give him some credit and say he hasn’t been helped by what’s been put around him but yeah, I still don’t think he’s really brought it.

Christopher Nolan and Tom Holland on the set of THE ODYSSEY
for some reason i expected him to look drastically different. that's just tom holland in a cloak
Kinda feels like this is Nolan’s attempt at his own “Titanic”. We’ll see how the movie turns out

the Tom Holland hate across social media is so corny. dude has proven his acting ability multiple times. like there’s no question that he can act, he just hasn’t found the right vehicle post-SM to showcase it
if this film is up to Nolan’s usual standard, then it will be the perfect vehicle for him. i have no doubt he’ll be great. sucks that we still have to wait a whole year for it tho lol
Let's not post spoilers based on unconfirmed leaks guys.
That A***yst account is just some guy echoing unconfirmed s*** all the time. Tired of seeing him.
