nolan doesnt have a better movie than thin red line

    Love Malick but Interstellar clears

    A fellow Prestige truther

    Love the movie
I just think it’s such a great exploration of rivalry and where the depths of human ambition might take someone

On top of that, it just has that classic 00s blockbuster feel all the way through it

Plus, Wally’s cinematography is f***ing amazing in it, that opening shot with the hats is beyond iconic at this point

    Fantastic movie, imo

  • imax digital for 3rd watch yesterday

I'll get one more imax 70 in before it's all said and done

  • Major Insider

was gonna rewatch The Prestige but the news of the new 70mm prints made me postpone that till January

this is a euphemism for no baddies in rotation

  • One of the best looking and sounding movies Ive ever seen but I know it’s never gonna look as good out of IMAX so sadly I will never rewatch probably

Now we need it to beat Deadpool & Wolverine to become the highest grossing R rated film in history.

    It easily will

S*** ain’t even open in China yet

I think it could get to $1.6-1.7b

Spider man already dropping hard from the first weekend. The odyssey is gonna get its screens back in a few weeks

Yeah but compared to the first weekend, it’s still a huge drop. Odyssey hasn’t had a drop anywhere near that. Superhero movies don’t have legs b. They’re super front heavy and then drop hard

It's only a big drop because it was the highest opening weekend ever lmao

If The Odyssey opened with $360M it would've had a big percentage drop second weekend as well

Behind only avengers endgame. Another superhero movie

These movies make damn near 50% of their total revenue the first weekend

Whereas Odyssey likely only made like 15% of its total revenue the first weekend. Superhero movies attract all the nerds those first few weekends and then no one really cares afterwords

This is Spider-Man we're talking about, arguably the most popular fictional character in cinema right now. For context, No Way Home made $587M opening weekend globally and then finished with $1.9B. That's not even close to half

Even then. That’s about 1/3 of the total revenue. I’m not talking about the month of August. I’m talking about September and October. The Odysseys legs are going to vastly outlast Spider Man. We will likely see 70mm imax shows for this all the way through Oscar season.

    10th Weekend Box Office:

    • Oppenheimer: $1.6M
    • No Way Home: $7.4M

Like I said, if you're talking about other comic book properties, you're right, but Spider-Man is a different beast

    Sure but it’s all relative

% wise, Oppenheimers legs were a lot stronger than NWHs

Yes... because No Way Home started out much higher. You can't realistically expect a movie to maintain that high level of box office going into its 10th week

  • Cinema so alive. My entire theatre was full today, weeks after release

  • Incredible film. Just banger scene after banger scene
