Idk if there was a correlation to those release dates, just a coincidence & a bit of bad luck. But that's a crazy fact.

Hands & Blue World bottom 2 for me. not bad songs tho.

Blue world has no buisness being on this record if we’re being honest lmao, doesn’t fit at all for me, same as complicated, I like them but they seem clearly like swimming leftovers to me

we on the same page about blue world but Complicated? nah it fits it very well to me. Complicated has the same spacey 80s synth sound as Woods, I Can See and Hands. Subject matter fits well as well with songs like good news and hand me downs.

You're right it fits but idk its just a very busy instrumental compared to most of the record being kind of restrained or minimal I think thats why I feel that way

Ranking Circles Worst To Best

This was crazy hard because I love every song after the first 3 songs on this list

12 - Blue World - Ehh...its cool. sounds like a swimming leftover. i like the hook and the verses but a straight up rapping song just doesn't really fit the album imo. Probably would have appreciated this more as a loosie or leak honestly. Nothing wrong with it tho

11 - Hands - I like the production and the verse is nice but i don't know I feel like i wait the entire time for it to kick in it feels like it never does. builds up to nothing. the verse is really nice tho. outside of the verse it doesn't feel finished.

10 - Thats On Me - Didn't care for the leak. I like this version more but i don't know. It doesn't really click with me like that. its cool tho. Feels finished and a complete thought unlike Hands.

9 - Circles - Great song when it leaked, still a great song. My ear has to get use to the album versions mix tho. I know its to make the vocals loud and be the centre of attention. Makes it sound like he's talking directly to you. Will probably appreciate this version more as time goes on.

8 - Complicated - Love the 80's synths and lyrics hit me hard. Very relatable for me. S*** like this is why I love Macs music so much. That switch up in the beat with macs high pitch singing? crazy

7 - I Can See - This s*** really feels like ur floating in space. puts me to peace. great song. the lyrics are so vulnerable and honest. its crazy how he could be this open.

6 - Surf - Such a chill vibe. Didn't like it on first listen but once i really just sat with it it really is beautiful. that loud crunchy guitar around the two minute mark is deadly. love the lyrics on this one. really shows you where he was at this point in his life. At some points it feels like it over stays its welcome as a 5 minute long track but when ur in the mood for it gah damn its great. Will probably grow on me even more as time goes on. oh, and the outro.

5 - Woods - Took me a second to really like this version after hearing the leaked version like crazy. This version is much better tho. the melody and the production is crazy. love the lyrics on this one. Synths are dangerously detailed on this one lol.

4 - Good News - Blew my mind when it leaked. Such an amazing song. Mac had perfected conversational styled song writing. its damn near perfect honestly.

3 - Once A Day - One of macs finest moments as a song writer. I prefer the leak but still a great song either way. Not much else to say. Straight to the point great song.

2 - Everybody - Gah Damn he went full Paul McCartney on this joint. He really made this song his own here. love the instrumentation here. The song itself fits mac perfectly. its almost like it was written for him. Crazy how easily the worst leak would end up being one of his best songs.

1 - Hand Me Downs - This shocked me to hear. like he actually finished guitar case and it devoloped into this. thats amazing. took me a minute to get used to the fact the verse comes in at a different bar than the leak version but this song is amazing. that rap verse is one of macs finest moments imo. to be honest all of it is mac at his best. absoulently love it.

in 2018 there were plenty albums that were better than swimming. I cant think of one album from 2019 thats better than Circles. well it's not that serious tbh but it would have been nice for mac to have more acclaim. this album will definitely be overshadowed this year

oh yea sorry was 2018 and yeah agree, 2019 was total trash compared to 18
