Wouldn’t call it a classic but I actually used to bump this s*** quite a bit back then
Underrated if anything
Sky Ferreira - Night Time, My Time
Amazing album, aged like wine
Listening to this for the first time rn, these riffs are stupid hard
Not a classic
Most classic album released in 2013 if we being honest.
I remember being on ktt1 and someone had made a thread on artists dropping that year Beyonce Jay em Drake ye toro y moi Mac jcole literally just to name a FEW
from what's been posted so far, only nwts and yeezus are classics. maybe the james blake album but i forgot whats on it. good chance its up there tho.
such cappppppp
Not really a classic but I bought this album in 2013 cuz I was still on some real hip hop s*** and I was surprised at Kweli’s direction because he took a more mainstream approach on this album and you really wouldn’t know that from the cover or album title
If you like Talibs albums and haven’t checked it out I highly suggest u do
Acid Rap was best rap album* of 2013 btw, will forever die on this hill
I know there's a certain element on this site who always thought this era of Chance was corny, and another who have aged out of "nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah-nah," but listening to the last minute of "Good Ass Intro" right now... every little flourish just seems perfect. it really feels like he caught maximalist lightning in a bottle with this one... way too complex to have been "spontaneous" in its construction, yet still feeling totally organic... I truly feel like the reason Chance's career has never quite been what we felt like it could be is that it really is impossible to make something so genuine-sounding as this a second time.
To me, Acid Rap really is (as Dave Eggers said about Infinite Jest) "a spaceship with no recognisable components, no rivets or bolts, no entry points, no way to take it apart. It is very shiny, and it has no discernible flaws. If you could somehow smash it into smaller pieces, there would certainly be no way to put it back together again. It simply is."
tl;dr, IGH
