Last Halloween, Los Angeles experimental rap mainstays Clipping ended their three-year silence with the horrorcore-inspired album There Existed an Addiction to Blood. This October, rapper Daveed Diggs, and producers Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson return with an even higher body count, more elaborate kills, and monsters that just won’t stay dead.
Visions of Bodies Being Burned is less a sequel than it is the second half of a planned diptych. It turns out, Clipping took to the thematic material of horrorcore like vampires to grave soil.
Visions of Bodies Being Burned contains sixteen more scary stories disguised as rap songs, incorporating as much influence from Ernest D***erson, Clive Barker, and Shirley Jackson as it does from Three 6 Mafia, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, and Brotha Lynch Hung. Clipping’s angular, shattered interpretations of existing musical styles are always deferential, driven by fandom for the object of study rather than disdain for it. Clipping reimagine horrorcore—the purposely absurdist hip-hop subgenre that flourished in the 1990s—the way Jordan Peele does horror cinema: by twisting beloved tropes to make explicit their own radical politics of monstrosity, fear, and the uncanny.

Oh OP dropped some heat actually
This guys sounds kinda like Andre and beats are NICE
Thanks OP!
I still find it crazy that the rapper in this group was part of the original cast of Hamilton. And he played two different roles lmao

Daveed's dope as f***...Blindspotting was a great film and the soundtrack is terribly underrated (as is the rest of his music)
update though...clipping. is dropping a new album 10/23/2020 titled Visions of Bodies Being Burned as a follow up to last years There Existed An Addiction to Blood...tracklist below and link to preorder for anyone interested fatbeats.com/products/clipping-visions-of-bodies-being-burned-2xlp-fat-beats-exclusive-grey-smoke-vinyl

I disagree with it being the most inaccessible (if by that you're referring to the screeching noises)...there's a bit of that on here but nothing as bad as the end of La Mala Ordina lol Daveed bodies it as usual and the production is pretty fire

Yessss that sounds sick
also it's "out there already" because if you preorder the album from their labels website you're able to stream it on there...guessing someone just ripped it

definitely jarring initially lol I first noticed Daveed Diggs with Blindspotting tbh which is such a great and underappreciated film...eventually figured out he also did music and came across clipping. last year but honestly I missed the initial hype train with Hamilton back when it was first poppin so I didn't realize he was part of the cast until it premiered on Disney+ this year lol saw him pop up and was like "yooooo what the f***???" (was also on edibles which enhanced the experience lol)...had the same reaction to seeing Groff playing King George bc I only knew him from Mindhunter previously...Daveed kills it though and makes sense he'd play those roles considering both characters have more complex rapping parts and he's a great lyricist
Album’s cool! Hadn’t checked in with them in a while but I don’t find it any more or less accessible than their other stuff.
Edit: Okay, listened to the singles from their last album and the new one is definitely weirder than those.
new single
fire...got the vinyl for this album on the way and prly gonna cop There Existed An Addiction of Blood as well (which has become an essential album to listen to this time of year)...also been bumping the Blindspotting EP's a lot lately Daveed is highly slept on
