This is really weird crediting
Wonder if Chad was out the picture for some reason and he wanted to break bread? I have no idea

As far as I can see on Discogs, since the original release in 2006, the liner notes have described the entire album as 'produced by The Neptunes'. But Chad Hugo has never been given any individual writing credits, whereas Pharrell has a writing credit on every song. So Pusha T might be telling the truth here.

There’s precedent for this being how teams work. Somewhat similar to Beatles songs being credited to Lennon/mccartney even if it was only one of them. There’s likely a contractual piece to it but also the branding is more impactful that way
yea this one is definitely a weird case and one that has made all parties involved move a bit more covertly. strange stuff. but what we do know is that there is no current relationship, working or otherwise, between pharrell and chad.
alway blows my when I check out Neptunes prod. discography
was a day 1 Clipse fan and always thought of them mainly as their producers but;
ODB - Got Your Money
Mystikal - Shake Ya Ass
Luda - Southern Hospitality
Britney - Slave For You
Nelly - Hot In Here
Beyonce - Work It Out
Kelis - Milkshake
Snoop - Drop It Like Its Hot
Gwen - Hollaback Girl
Throne - Gotta Have It
Seems awkward though
I didn’t expect Pusha to flag plant like that with Pharrell (at least as adamantly)
Yeah he means what he means but idk he could’ve said something like Chad & P gave us something special and now what we do with P is different but just as special

Could’ve sworn HHNF had Chad on it. I remember seeing him credited several times or am I tripping?

It’s possible that they used The Neptunes brand as a sort of licensing vehicle for their IP overall at the time so even if they did something solo, the credit would still go under their umbrella because the name was more valuable at the time. I don’t think either of them had quite broken out on their own yet at this time but idk

they're versatile as hell tbh

That was a surprise to me too
I just checked my HHNF vinyl and it credits Neptunes
They both have produced several things by themselves and credited it as The Neptunes
Chad wasnt on HHNF bc he was producing a pop album by himself i forget which one that was also credited as the neptunes. HHNF came mostly from a Kingdom Come beat pack that P did that Hov didnt use any of
i remember hearing about there being an issue with chad around 2005-7 were he was mostly inactive n that’s why P's album was self produced and so was HHNF. dont remember what it was about though
not being on speaking terms is pretty nasty for lifelong friends tbh especially that late in life
P & Chad ofc have their issues, which tbh is natural to some extent after being friends for 30+ years
I more meant btwn the Clipse and Chad
they're versatile as hell tbh
!https://youtu.be/_RVCDKS5D4cthis beat and all early neptunes production (up until like 98-99) was mainly chad, apart from drums and lyrics
that’s why their earlier sound is so different from what they became known for

it wasn't defensive toward chad or Pharrell. they're trying to promote an album...why would they push an album that's missing something?
No Doubt - Hella Good
Forgot about that song
Interesting results when a rock band uses a hip-hop producer
