was at this exact show. first time seeing drake live. f***ing chills. he's incredible live.
It’s Cole still tbh. He’s more respected within the rap community.
amongst hardcores absolutely, but your casual hip-hop consumer might dispute
Oh and all I’ll say is I don’t see the biggest rapper of our era and Future’s frequent collaborator ever mentioning Nayvadius with Kenny as far as who he’s competing with
Drake Cleary says who the big 3 is and niggas still gonna front.

Been tryna see drake for a while now. Never knew he used to perform without a backing track
They're just not adding to the sxn
would the thread have been
okay had i not said the big 3
That was almost a decade ago. He's done multiple tours since then and has gotten a lot better.
has anybody else seen kendrick
during GKMC and more recently
happy to hear he's gotten better
and i'd like to hear more perspectives

Yeah I've seen him 3 times, Would You Like A Tour (NWTS tour) was the best one, absolutely incredible. Kiss Land Abel opening up and peak Drake rapping his ass off
Boy Meets World (post Views, pre More Life) was also great. Worst but still good was Assassination Vacation (Scorpion tour). He uses some backing tracks now if I remember correctly + slight (noticeable) autotune on his vocals which I dislike

Future
is the real top 3 and future arguably the most influencial of the three
Cole still living off top hot mixtapes if we're keeping it a buck (not hating)

kendrick songs / concepts
are fake deep
like the damn intro for example
i'm sure there is a message and depth
but for me
it feels like what people
say about cole "pseudo deep"

i think you're on to something
i think cole the worst victim of this for sure but it applies to frank and kdot bc of annoying yt fans tryna seem smarter and more cultured than they are
also it’s just fans genuinely wanting to extract meaning out of art they love
i did it a lot with radiohead when i was like... 13/14 lmaoo

I've seen Kendrick a bunch of times, on GKMC tour and since.
I saw him at Pitchfork Fest before GKMC dropped and Swimming Pools was premiered. Great songs, amazing crowd, but it wasn't much more than an average rap fest setup on a small stage. He sounded fine. But you could tell something was brewing there.
GKMC was OK, he had some breath control and pacing issues that hampered some of the performances. He had a live band and it sounded good, definitely a step up in terms of the arrangements.
Things really improved with Kendrick as a performer going into TPAB.
This is just nuts and I think touring GKMC really helped him out. You can hear improved breath control here and the enunciation is on point.
Kunta Groove was smaller but he improved his staging:
I was at this show and it was one of the best I've ever been to. Great band, great lighting, really good control of the stage, all time classic album performed almost in full.
By DAMN he started to be known for putting on big shows and when I saw him there definitely was more going on with screens, but I thought the rap performance itself was what really improved. I don't have much from the Staples Center show, but all the good stuff is at this show:
He's not skipping lines anymore, great command of the stage, breath control is on point. Part of it is that everyone knows the songs now so he doesn't have to do as much work, but he was living up to his role by this point.
Like someone else said, he is great at putting on a show even if he hasn't always been a great performer. I would never say he's less than good as a performer though at this point and there is much, much worse in mainstream rap. I haven't seen Cole live so I can't compare the two, but I've seen hundreds of other gigs and Kendrick's are up there with the better ones.
shut up already about this big 3 s***
how bout you shove 3 big cocks in your mouth
if he did a live version of his albums
they'd be received better i think
AYE WHO AM I
:kdogoneavi:
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 said J Cole best live performer :pog:

Nigga look you dead in your face
And really act like you don't do it to the level that you do it
“Pseudo deep music”
He’s just rapping about life, man. You guys sound pretentious when you say s*** like this to dismiss music with substance.
Naw he’s right j Cole don’t care about music he’ been targeting a group of people for 4 years now
Kendrick is the only one with iconic live performances.
