Just because the majority of people here aren’t that political doesn’t make the claim that there are “3 communists, a dozen social democrats, and 500 guys who dream of being landlords” true. The facts are around half of the people on the site as a whole are pretty sympathetic to socialism, it’s not like the base of the politics sxn is radically different from the entire site

we had a thread on ktt1 for years. many of the users are well-read but there is no point in discussing the ABCs of communism with people who only have basic cold-war-propganda-tier knowledge so we keep to s***-posting most of the time. i would much rather discuss these topics in real life with real people, which i do, than on a music forum. you can't reasonably convince someone of something or exchange ideas online. the online arguments i have here and there are more for the readership rather than to convince the person i am talking to.

What if I told you that half of these “apolitical” people are more sympathetic to socialism than capitalism

Also the identity of most of the site is kind of irrelevant because this is a music forum. The politics sxn is where people actually form political groups so yeah, I’d say there’s more people who’ve been drawn to socialism as a result of spending time here than in most other sites

Socialism and capitalism are not exclusive. Socialism is perfectly compatible with a mixed economy. It's an argument for more humane capitalism. A social safety net. A society.

But again, most users on here are not concerned with the act of masturbation known as ideology. They're peasants for Drake who desperately want to own a McDonalds franchise and rental properties so they can buy a Tesla.

I will counter your argument, I was someone who in December was a SocDem but started down the road to Socialism back in January. I got a lot of knowledge and tools from guys off this forum.

“Humane capitalism” isn’t socialism, it’s just capitalism. Also that doesn’t really refute anything I said.

I’m not saying most people here are that concerned with political ideology, what I’m saying is there are more people who are left wing than right wing. I mean there are some guys who are entirely apolitical but you are vastly overestimating the number of guys who fantasize about being business owners at some point in time

Capitalism is inherently exploitative however the humanity is in restricting the market to non-essentials. Few people want anything more than a Scandanavian style economy. They're capitalists and many self-proclaimed democratic socialists are as well.

Literally haven’t once said most people on this site or the world in general care more about politics than other things. What I’m saying is socialists aren’t a small minority or even expressing a controversial opinion when it’s here. Of the political guys here, most are leftists. Of the non political guys here 40-50% express some sympathy to socialism, even if they don’t strongly understand it

If you’re a democratic socialist you want more than a Scandinavian style economy. Bernie Sanders, AOC, and online democratic socialist want more than a Scandinavian style economy. If you call yourself a socialist and think a Scandinavian style economy is good enough then you’re not a socialist
