thoughts on going to college for cs vs self learn online?
It's definitely doable to self learn online, but you're going to have a tougher time finding your first job. Most companies want a Bachelors of some kind before you join them.
However, going to some bootcamp, networking with people there, and having a list of projects can you get through the door to some places, especially startups that are more lenient on education backgrounds.

I feel like college is not for me but how different is going to a bootcamp gonna be that's def been on my mind? What do you suggest just from your own experience if u dont mind sharing?

Totally understand.
Personally, looking back at college, it was worth it in the sense that it pushed to completing projects and actually getting tasks done. I'm not entirely sure I would be able to come into work everyday doing what I'm doing if I didn't develop that level of discipline.
Also, most companies want to see that you're in school. Not pursuing some level of education (whether its traditional or non-traditional) is what employers want to see most of the time.
There are exceptions to this rule though. However, the people who have successfully circumnavigated the college experience are people who created some incredible tools and ideas. Dan Abramov comes into mind with creating Redux (state management for React), along with others. That's not to say you need to create such an amazing tool, but to get employers' attentions, you're going to need to make tons of projects or have one really solid idea.
At the end of the day, anything is certainly possible. There are tons of stories on r/cscareerquestions of people not going to college and getting into FAANG or some random company.
I believe you can make it too. Just commit to whatever you plan on doing and take it day by day

Stuck between getting into Mobile Development and diving deep into frontend development. Both are interesting to me, but I just can't make a decision

in the same boat man. i am fairly decent in getting a react site with a backend running (nodejs, express, mongo) but now i want to try iOS out. for me, i think the appeal of iOS is that a lot of ideas i want to explore are mobile first. but splitting time between uni and learning is so difficult for me!
how do you guys manage to balance school and side projects?
i struggle a lot with this. when i focus on projects, motivation for school becomes low and starts to gets neglected. vice versa with focus on school. any tips for how to balance this?

wait until job this motivation seems to go away even more so lol. programming all day to come home to more programming (even though I love it)
my advice is always hackathons or bigger productivity burst. spend a whole day instead of working a little bit by little bit.

thanks man! how long has it been since you got a programming job?
i'll try out the bursts. sometimes i get in a zone for projects that makes me not want to touch school work haha. maybe the bursts will help :)

Wake up extra early and spend an hour or two on your side projects. Takes a certain level of discipline but you got this

Actually might try this tbh. This is a good idea

about a year now.
seen many videos of an extra hour early to focus on side projects but not keen; i already wake up at like 6/7 to get into work for 8. that way i have more of my evening

weekends for me. i second the wake up early thing but i use it more for taking care of myself rather than doing work

let us know how it goes! it will be well worth your efforts
React Native annoying the s*** outta me rn
I heard the docs are pretty terrible and many companies are not really considering using it, unless you're short on devs
Making a KTT2 CS Discord.

Used python for a couple courses in uni, made some scatterplots/bar graphs with heavily manipulated data.
But never really felt like i fully understood what i was doing.
