Is going to a coding bootcamp worth it? I live in LA. Never been to college. Just been on some bum/hood s***, tryna change my life around. Any tips or advice would be helpful thanks.

It’s a reasonable way to get a start into a CS career, but you need to be prepared to do the work during and afterwards. Also don’t pay too much

Its not a garunteed. I would reccomend for you to just go to a community college and study CS there, way more prestigious than a bootcamp degree and potentially cheaper

Yeah I know people that are doing PhDs in physics who started at community college. A reputable community college should still have up to ODEs, multi variable calc, programming, chemistry, etc. Then apply for scholarships at your best instate college and depending on your parents income you can get a full ride for having a decent gpa. From there you can even get paid to get a PhD in any stem subject. And it’s not like you have to be crazy smart to get into a decent PhD program. Just do research/ paid internships during the summer and make connections with your professors, who also have connections to industry. This will also help with finding a job after.
Google opened up their job postings for apprenticeships (to my understanding they teach you the job, require no experience, and pay you) yesterday until May 16. Saw it on a post on IG and figured I'd post it here if anyone is interested. careers.google.com/jobs/results/?distance=50&q=Apprenticeship%20
is there still a discord
@0 were'nt u in it? Still dead?
is achieving success while being self taught really that feasible
Yes gotta be disciplined tho
Anyone got experience with R?

Yeah I use it occasionally, it’s especially good for network a***ysis. But it’s pretty straightforward if you Google stuff/ read the documentation. Some things are slightly weird if you’re coming from Python though. Also, you can run R through a jupyter notebook which is nice.
is the discord still active? i wanna join so i have a cs space for questions and so i actually actively practice and learn languages
need advice tbh.
Degree: BCIS
I'm on track to make 60k a year as a (CTE/ engineering) teacher but I'm thinking about leaving the position to get into tech.
only downside is i have no experience and random free certifications that I can pick up online.
what would be the best move for the future? this gig is pretty nice for right now, but i could have the potential to make more.

It's definitely possible but incredibly difficult - you have to be so motivated to learn all the time. If you're serious, go to a university for CS.
what do you like about it?
i honestly feel like i've scratched the surface of it but a lot of the companies that have taken interest in me have been .net shops tbh
it's become really good for web frameworks though especially since it's cross-platform now; you can actually do some serious s*** in it with barely even touching windows anymore.
Thinking about working for a WITCH company for experience while I'm at school. Is this a bad idea?
