front-end dev makes me feel like i'm just hacking random s*** together
Dawg THIS
Any of y’all worked as a Scrum Master or at least in agile on a development team? I’m interviewing for a position, y’all got any tips?
time to get serious with a personal project this year. think i have a good idea, just need to learn Swift and execute
How competitive is the software Dev scene
i'd say somewhat competitive. the number of CS grads these days is getting nuts, plus bootcamp grads/people self learning.
there are still a lot of jobs out there, but you're going to have to grind to get the first one at least.
definitely a field that's worth it, but if you're in it solely for the money, then I'd suggest finding something else that's tech-adjacent. like security, design, product/project management, scrum master, etc.
CS or Law school
which one do you like more and willing to work harder in? that's the ultimate question you have to ask yourself

Okay, I just wanna do this for money and I'm not that passionate for software engineering. So far, I have an option to get into a boot camp that's like 6 months tops. What are my other options that don't take too long to get myself established?

maybe security or becoming a scrum master?
i know security is booming and looking for a ton of people. if you get some certs, i heard that can help a lot.
others in this thread might have an opinion on what direction to take outside of swe.
have you tried programming anything prior to the bootcamp?

Last time I tried software engineering, it was in college and only for one semester (spoiler: it kicked my ass big time lol. Dropped it right after that).
Can I go through the Google A***ytics route?

Whats something job wise that doesnt require a cs degree but is in tech? If that makes sense
Never coded or anything before

sounds like its not for you
if youre just in it for the money and only doing a bootcamp id imagine youll hate the work youll end up doing
if you have a bachelors in finance or engineering and like math/stats/excel maybe try some data science/machine learning projects in your free time and try to get your masters in ds if you find you enjoy that stuff

Thanks, I appreciate your input. The last thing I wanna do is burn out on the job. Gonna weigh my options

UX Design, Product/Project Management, Scrum Master, and Security. There are some other positions that escape me, but those are good fields in the industry
