was reading over the weekend how rough the night show was starting out because conan was inexperienced and the comedy was too weird at the time for late night. conan was on the phone with execs every week for two years not to cancel the show. stressful af and everyone said he still treated ppl with respect and never raised his voice. man is the goat for that.

all facts. so s***ty that the main reason why conans show has bad ratings now and has to scale back is because he can't compete with the rest of late night. nearly all of them are on primetime and hes stuck on tbs. cant compete with that.

maybe its a blessing in some way because he gets to remain the underdog in some way with creative control and isnt corrupted. whats happened to colbert is so disappointing

i like conan but jay is getting too much s*** for what happened. conan isn´t so innocent, in 2004 he straight up told nbc he wanted the tonight show, which is kind of messed up.
when his ratings on the tonight show weren´t good, nbc wanted leno at 11:35 and conan at 12:05 but he threw a fit and quit the show (still got paid about $40 million).
conan should have stuck it out for a while and he´d still host the tonight show instead of jimmy fallon.
