Kind of a long read but Here we go…
So most of my face (and even skull) has practically developed unevenly, which my curved nose that almost sticks out like a sore thumb is evidence of this. Hell, even my head shape looks almost different if you look at me from each side. Also please don’t say grow a beard, cuz that’ll only make my face look more round like a cabbage doll (unless I get an excellent haircut) and the maintenance is kind of a hassle for me. No lie from time to time it’s affecting my self esteem
My posture is kind of f***ed too, I mean it’s not overly severe put it almost seems like my head is hunched forward, rounded shoulders, anterior pelvic tilt. I feel like even my results from the gym is looking underwhelming cuz of all this s***
Finally, I think it’s affecting my speech, where it’s no doubt affecting my life. Difficulty speaking well, always asking people to repeat yourself, not being able to speak confidently. I had some instances where I was able to tell the way I spoke affected their perception on me
I feel like a corrective jaw surgery is the ticket to escape from all this bullshit, but it’s very costly ranging from like 30k even up to 80k (If I spend out of pocket and no insurance coverage), long recovery time, and not to mention the risks associated with it. My dad always tries to dismiss it and thinks it’s ridiculous, even though he himself complains about getting dental implants.
I just want to be the person who I was supposed to be in the first place, developing how I wanted to be socially and professionally. I just don’t feel like I’m me right now, of course I’m not being super stressed and losing sleep over it at least but it’s in the back of my mind. Having people dismissing my issue, then doctors/dentists talking me out of it or beating around the bush, it’s tough dawg…
To be clear with y’all my teeth and bite is fine for the most part, this is more of a medical issue all around. I never had braces either, I just don’t know how all this bullshit happened tbh
@op have u seen a doctor ? or did u come up with those conclusions by yourself?
who said u need jaw surgery to help with speech and where did u get the whole "my face and skull developed unevenly from?

I seen some doctors, couple of them acknowledged that I have the problem. Though to be clear with you mine isn’t severe…
Maybe I’m just blowing all this out of proportion
do what the f*** u want to nigga
he has spoken
I understand u wanting sympathy from people but truthfully you don’t need anyone’s opinion on here or irl about this. If it’s causing you to be unhappy then that in itself is for you to go ahead. F*** everyone else they aren’t in your body. Sometimes making yourself happy isn’t going to get praising or agreement from anyone. Doesn’t mean you are wrong or they are wrong, but you deserve to be happy op and confident in yourself op. No matter what anyone else thinks @Skrimps_n_grits

You’ll do what’s best for you king, at the end of the day u are the only person that looks in the mirror at yourself
if it makes you happy, go for it. Nothing wrong with getting something done, you should be allowed to look however you want

That’s right fam, i they ain’t i your body then they’ll never truly understand the situation. At the same time since it’s something major my parents will find out about it either way, unless I completely move away somewhere far.
I talked to my sister in law about this and she said you’re not obligated to announce it to anyone since most of the time you’ll just face opposition

You don’t have to announce nor do you have to owe anyone some explanation as to why u did it. But if you want to explain then that’s up to you.

Exactly, I’m just doing it to be the healthiest and true version of my self. Even the looks part of it isn’t the biggest reason, but how it’s affecting other aspects of myself
please see a physiotherapist to fix your posture
Ive read one case where someone got the procedure and their body slowly corrected itself, they noted their shoulders gotten slightly wider and even gained some height

anterior pelvic tilt is very fixable, have you seen a professional that offered more than just a brief plan? The body is very complex and it's a lot of trial and error to fix it properly
but i also dont doubt surgery might help a lot, jaw structure is definitely linked to the rest of your body

Nah not yet, I heard a chiropractor could help too. I'll have to revisit my primary care provider about this

you sound delusional how is a jaw surgery going to change posture

I just read couple of anecdotal cases, but It's not far fetched to think its all interconnected
Why are the doctors taking you out of it? What do they say?
They said I don't really have the dilemma, and implied it's not severe enough to call for it. Though couple I visited claimed I could benefit from it...
and to be clear with you my teeth is fine and my case isn't even severe, s*** I think I appear aight but some aspects could've been better.
