I just read couple of anecdotal cases, but It's not far fetched to think its all interconnected

forum posts and social media infographics are not anecdotal cases they are mental illness my friend

Answer is never surgery get ur mental right

Trust me in the past I used to be a lot worse about this, but nowadays I've gotten better at handling it mentally. No doubt though it's affecting my confidence occasionally

Even one of the doctors who said I could benefit from it, he said at the same time it's good to get in the mentality of self acceptance and tbh he right

Some people do act weird about it for sure

Also I did fracture my collarbone back in middle school, maybe that played a part?

    This.

Rounded shoulders and anterior pelvic tilt has nothing to do with your jaw. Sounds like to you actually need to work on stretching and regular strength exercises to correct your posture. Might also be worth trying something like pilates as that was created to promote flexibility and correct posture issues etc

oh yeah. a good one is an absolute game changer for your physical wellbeing. and it's definitely the kind of thing you should do regardless of whether you get the surgery or not.

Yep, funny though when walking I didn't even realize I was putting my head down until like couple days ago....

Game changer for sure, like I said it can even help with accentuating my gains from the gym

Jaw surgery is very extreme, you should try every other avenue, first the gym to fix your posture. This is overkill

Yeah man. If you hit the gym hard without also addressing your posture and mobility you become locked into your own body. I should be a physical disaster since i've broken 16 bones lol but because I got good physical therapy after all my various accidents I recovered 100%. I've never been bigger or stronger than I am right now, and the foundation of the workouts that got me here are things I learned from Lisa my PT. She's goated. I hope you find your Lisa.

100% agreed, while it can beneficial the costs, recovery, and mental affects of it can be too much. At end of the day, it's one of the most invasive procedures out there

Even if you see me you'd think its an overkill too

Maaan I need to find some good workouts/exercises that'd help me with this

Only thing I was doing in the gym that might've been helping with this is face pulls

Are there any other treatment options you could explore? Cause it sounds like there are a few separate issues here

EDIT: before surgery of course, it sounds like a pretty major one so pls make sure you’ve tried everything else that your docs have recommended first

Chiropractor, visiting the SLP again, even some dental treatments that aren't invasive, etc.

Damn okay, and none of them worked? I would suggest exhausting all non-surgical options first just because this does seem like a pretty major surgery, but if it’s your last resort then go for it man. It also seems like you’ve gotten some contradictory info from your doctors so make sure y’all are on the same page. Your overall health and peace of mind are worth it

Only thing I haven't done were the dental treatments but that's because the couple doctors that recommended special treatments gave me cash grab vibes, one of them were jacking up the price by like $500 every year

It's best for me to exhaust all other options first before going for it, that's the best route for now

They said I don't really have the dilemma, and implied it's not severe enough to call for it. Though couple I visited claimed I could benefit from it...

and to be clear with you my teeth is fine and my case isn't even severe, s*** I think I appear aight but some aspects could've been better.

It’s the risk of the surgery what I would be more worried about. More so than if it’s worth it financially, is it worth the risk of some s*** going wrong? If that’s what the doctors are saying, I would be careful about making the decision

For sure man, I've heard some scary stories where doctors f***ed up or they had additional complications

It's a very major thing indeed, that's why it's the best to wait it out for at least 1+ years and see what happens

As long as the s*** won't send you into like finanical debt trying to afford it then do what you wish. It sounds like something that you're insecure about and surgery is the only thing that will fix it, so do what you think would make you happy.

That said tho, it's no guarantee that it's what will fix your social problems. Only thing I'd say to look out for or be careful of is that you don't fixate on image so much cuz that's when people go down a rabbit hole of various cosmetic surgeries thinking they have so many flaws that need to be corrected or improved upon.

But if you got the bread, do what's gonna make you happy at the end of the day. If you start feeling any other insecure thoughts about looks then maybe hit a therapist first before anymore surgery, good luck to you op
