they'll just watch any dogshit on their tv and they're good

This doesn't have anything to do with people not giving a s*** about movies, lol.

All family friendly movies have been doing well during covid. Croods 2, Tom & Jerry, Trolls World Tour (did amazing streaming numbers). Parents are using movies as babysitters and stress relievers during this time. Kids are doing virtual schooling and are driving parents crazy from the lack of normal social interaction. Movies are deemed a safer option than activities such as Chuck E. Cheese or the Trampoline park right now.

thats how its been even pre covid

people dont actually care about if a movie is good or not. They just watch s*** to pass the time. They can't even tell the quality of something anymore. Thats why they would be fine if theaters ceased to exist because to them they can't tell the difference between movies and tv anymore (which to be fair at this point, neither can movie producers)

thats why the film industry is where its at now

True, but I still think covid f***ing up how we look at these numbers right now.

WB has got to be pleased with their rollouts so far.

Got the best pandemic box office numbers even when streaming the movies day 1. And even won the Christmas battle with WW84 despite their disparity in subs vs D+

and Godzilla vs Kong coming up soon to wreck

Feel like even Snyder Cut dropping on VOD oversees is gonna show dominance, Went about their move in a harsh way but overall was the right call. The argument about them killing theaters is funny now seeing as they've been the life support for the past few months while other studios abandoned Spring releases which does more harm for theaters struggling right now

I wonder how the Snyder Cut will do overseas... can't imagine a VOD release being that successful ngl - maybe if it went straight to streaming.

    Will have to see

VOD hasn't been that bad for studios (i think) but yeah. The thing that helps here is that Snyder has an huge oversees base who want to pay him for this movie. They're just much more involved than most director fanbases.

Most $20 VOD so far have been movies that had been in theaters already and some fans had seen. This one being the premier helps also. It's the only real legal route they have. If this movie fails in any way, i don't think it'll be through numbers/attention but we'll see

It's gonna be on HBO, so I guess a lot of people will watch it there.

Godzilla won't, so it depends on the covid situation.

Still feel like some changes might be permanent. Blockbuster movies will have long theatrical windows, while the 30-45 day window then straight to streaming will be for smaller films.

Minions looks weak anyway. Just like Despicable 3

  • Hope there's a decent amount of people for Zilla vs Kong, we have the biggest screen in Arizona
