Get a simple 22 carbine or something. They’re affordable and ammo is super cheap.

Another good one is the Kel-TEC sub2000. It’s a 9mm carbine that can break down to fit in a small pocket or laptop case. 9mm is super common too so no problem finding ammo. Plus that way if you ever decide to get a side piece you can use the same ammo, save you some money.

Or just a nice lil shot gun. Don’t have to really aim as precisely as you do with other options. If you want something you can tuck easily look into getting a bullpup
